Help...

I have a 1986 Grand Am. I noticed that I kept overheating in traffic.

I changed the coolant fan switch, then the coolant temp switch, tested the theory of turning on the a/c...nothing. I found the coolant fan relay and tested the red wire which is always meant to be hot...nothing.

Any ideas anyone?

several things that you can do. check and see if any fuses are blown, check the wire from the relay to where ever the other end is for conntinuity(wiring diagram can help with that), check the relay itself, and also check the fan.
I hope that this gives you a starting point
if you need any more info, just ask.

also check your fuseable links.

That red wire is dead...no blown fuses. I'd tried finding the fuseable link by following the red wire, but not sure where to look. I have the wiring diagrams, but doesn't where the link is on the line. The fan works. I have temporary hooked a direct link from fan to battery, but its a pain opening and closing the hood again and again.

If you can tell me where the fusable link is? Much appreciated.

Success!!!!

The fuseable links are in the wiring harness halfway across the rad. The wire to the relay had broken by the link...re-wire it and now I have fan.
