Z32 (NA) vs. 3000GT (SL)1viadrft 10-04-2004, 05:36 PM Hey FellaZ/GalZ... Went to the INFAMOUS street races (Ontario, Ca.) this past Friday night/Early Saturday morning and had a blast! It has been a few years since I have been... (last-time me and my friends were shot at... glad to see it has calmed down some!) and it looks like it's still going strong! I did not really want to run this night 'cus I had my friend and brother riding along. I just pulled up and parked and saw a few runs. Honrable mentions: WRX kills Mustang GT, Mean sounding COBRA (???) slaughters 1970-ish Corvette (both these guys were built... not sure what they were running!), S14 pulls on MX6.... I was enjoying the races and chatted with a guy who was driving his chick's G35 (brand spanking new and stock! He didn't want to run sadly but understandably). Like I said... I had no intention on running this night but as we were running from the cops to the next location someone pulled up right on my ass, then swerved to the right-lane next to me. A purple 3000GT (SL) pulls up by me. The driver keeps looking over and starts talking to his buddy and keeps on smiling. There is no-one in front of us. He wants to run. I got two passengers. He's got an 3000GT SL. I got a Z32 NA AT 2+2. Let's roll! I feather the throttle and rush foward then slow down... just to show him my intentions. He responds with the same action. We wait... then we gun it! At first he pulls ahead of me but I'm all-over him! He has some mods... I can hear his exhaust and I'm sure he has intake (very throaty). About a 1/4 mile or more down the road I still have nearly a full car length on him. My passengers are loving it! Then we catch up with the rest of the pack and we gotta slow-down... he turns off onto a street so I can't give him props. Wish we were able to go at again. I'm sure I would have totally massacarred him if not for at least one of my passengers! Zgringo 10-04-2004, 07:47 PM Way to go Iv. Really makes your day doesn't it? Think how much more fun it's going to be when you get your 3.2 going. :evillol: I be happy the day you post the same thing, but about a Vette. Then I know nothing well wipe the smile off your face. Broke_as_**** 10-04-2004, 08:44 PM Then I know nothing well wipe the smile off your face. Perhaps some flashing red and blue lights in the rearview mirror would do the trick? :D Good job but be careful... freakonaleash1187 10-04-2004, 09:27 PM that is great, a the slowest z32 (no offense) with 2 passengers vs. a 3000gt with one passenger and the z wins, that is awesome. i want to race this 3000gt at my school, but they guy won't :( -Jared ZedEx 10-04-2004, 10:38 PM Speaking of 3000GT's... Guess what Wes is looking at to buy tommarow :D '92 3000GT VR-4 Twin Turbo AWD Five Speed... Now dont get all pissed at me right away, here is my plan. I cant fit in the damn cars... No way in hell. The lady Im buying it from is cutting me a HUGE deal because I've known her since I was 'this big'. $3,500... The Private Party value is about 8grand! So I'll just resell her and pick up a nice Zed with my profits. Now keep in mind... I have five grand right now. So subtract $3,500 from Five... Leaves me with $1,500. Now lets just for shits sake, say that I sell her for... Umm... Errr... $7,000. I will now have $8,500... ... To buy a '92 Slicktops of course :D So I'll let you guys know how it goes... O and George, congrats on the kill. -Wes freakonaleash1187 10-04-2004, 11:07 PM good plan wes. i read the first line and just dropped my jaw in disgust, then i thought, he must be up to something. and you are. wish that kind of thing would come my way. -Jared k3smostwanted 10-04-2004, 11:23 PM nice kill 1via, i always wanted to run one and i finally came up on one in the highway and he pussed out. oh well. Broke_as_**** 10-04-2004, 11:28 PM nice kill 1via, i always wanted to run one and i finally came up on one in the highway and he pussed out. oh well. Thats funny, I've always wanted to see a hopped up FWD Eclipse really take off on the freeway and instead he torque steered in to the median. Anyway, Sam, I'll laugh my ass of if she gets pissed because you bought then sold the car for alot less than she took for it. But hey, if shes known you that long chances are A: Shes senile, B: you could give a rats ass. So it all works out. Zgringo 10-05-2004, 10:39 AM [QUOTE=Broke_as_****]Perhaps some flashing red and blue lights in the rearview mirror would do the trick? :D We don't have any flashing lights here where I live, but if you do get stopped you just give'm 50 peso's ($5) and go on your way, unless your racing, Then it's free if you win. The cops here love racing. One of them has a 240SX and loves to street race. Wes, you think like me, but my problem is I usually end up keeping them. I have a ugly shit brown Volvo240 with a 350 Chev. and 4 speed that I love to drive but hate to be seen in, I got for $1,000 and never sold it. By the way, got my red 350Z. Smeals nice inside, but I like my Z32 better. If someone would PM me how to post pictures I'd like to show off. :smokin: 1viadrft 10-05-2004, 11:55 AM Thanks for the props, boys! Wesley!!!! A 3000GT Vr4? I love those cars too! But you're a Z man! Hurry up and sell it! 1viadrft 10-05-2004, 02:28 PM that is great, a the slowest z32 (no offense) with 2 passengers vs. a 3000gt with one passenger and the z wins, that is awesome. i want to race this 3000gt at my school, but they guy won't :( -Jared BTW: 3000gt SL 3373lb (suppossed) 222hp @ 6000rpm 201lb ft @ 4500rpm (???Can anyone confirm this???) 300ZX NA 2+2 4190lb (gross... anyone know the exact weight?) 222hp @ 6000rpm 198lb ft @ 4800rpm I'm not quite sure on some of these numbers... theoretically he should have been able to beat me... ZedEx 10-05-2004, 02:41 PM Maybe he didnt know how to shift for shit... And since your Zed is an automatic, that may have given you the upper hand. As for the VR-4, they are nice and fast... But I am a Zed dude. So what can Wes buy with $8,500... Hmmmmm :D Im feeling an '87 Accord 4 door automatic with 20" chrome wheels, aluminum wing, neons, and a sweet ass body kit yo' . ... Ahem... Sorry about that. Im thinking a 1992 Slicktops, with Black racing rims, Fairlady fascia, and taillights. And some minor engine mods until I can afford a Twin Turbo swap... Which will then become a single turbo :D Not a bad plan at all... Hopefully Gods not reading this right now, he likes to play games with my dreams... :p -Wes 1viadrft 10-05-2004, 02:47 PM Well... I beat him... that's enough for me! But I would love to go at it again with no passengers this time! By then I will have my ALC (buying one this weekend) and will probably be alot faster on the 1/4 mile. A SLICKTOP sounds bad-ass! A turbo SLICKTOP sounds damn-right sexy! Single turbo? I didn't know you can single a VG30DETT! How do you do that, Wesley? BTW... am I right on the 2+2's weight? ZedEx 10-05-2004, 03:04 PM www.z32power.com Look at some of those pictures... And DEFFINATELY watch the videos... Joel Grannas is the fucking man. But that whole plan is so far down the road I cant even see its taillights yet. -Wes 1viadrft 10-05-2004, 03:08 PM Awesome... so he has a single-turbo'd Zed? WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE IN ACTUAL AND GROS VEHICLE WEIGHT? HOW MUCH DOES MY 2+2 WEIGH??? Anyone? DeleriousZ 10-05-2004, 03:36 PM i've got all of the video's with the single turbo'd vert... when he was running 22 psi he wasn't hitting full boost until around 6000 rpm... is that normal for a single turbo? k3smostwanted 10-05-2004, 03:57 PM i thought i read somewhere that the 2+2 weighs around 3500lbs but i cant confirm this. Urban_Squrill 10-05-2004, 04:09 PM How much does a 2 seater weight? Hodo 10-05-2004, 04:18 PM 2+2 weighs just over 1700 kgs. More like 1740kgs or so. Thats about 3828lbs. I found that GT3 is good for that, and I also seen it in a old motortrend. 1viadrft 10-05-2004, 04:26 PM Nevermind... I found it! 2+2 w/ MT: 3414lbs. w/ AT: 3443lbs. We were pretty much the same pound for pound! I guess me and my Zed were just more bad-ass! LoL Broke_as_**** 10-05-2004, 08:24 PM That you you don't have the handicap of an assbackward FWD system, as far as traction is concerned. 1viadrft 10-05-2004, 08:28 PM That you you don't have the handicap of an assbackward FWD system, as far as traction is concerned. Yuh! I totally forgot about that! DuH! Broke_as_**** 10-05-2004, 08:32 PM Yeah, that really comes into play with such a large car with squishy shocks like the 3000GT. Front end goes up, ass end goes down. Thats a good thing on a RWD because if puts more pressure on the rear tires which equates to more traction. On FWD your pretty much shooting yourself in the foot. Which is one reason why when you see a FWD trying to take off hard, it will accelerate quickly as the tires catch then slow as the rear sinks and have to wait for the nose to come down again before they get any good grip on the road. 1viadrft 10-05-2004, 08:34 PM Word. igota20hpweedeater 10-05-2004, 10:56 PM the 300zx na manual have taller gears than the 3kgt manual. so im assuming from a roll, our cars take the cake, not to mention the fact that the 3kgt's are fwd. I got a friend whom is getting a 94 3kgt sl in 4 more days. Its got 120k miles and is buying an air filter, hardpipes, downpipes, and carbon fiber hood. It will be a close race as i have a 300zx manual with 70k miles with stillen filer, injene hardpipes, headers, and pulleys. It will be a really intense race....yet i think i will win even if he is faster than me just by the mere fact he will be new to the whole manual thing. Ill let u guys know how it goes! as for the weight goes of a 2+2....i was reading and found that a 2+2 maual weighs 30 lbs less than the 94 3kgt. The 94 3000gt sl weighs 3,351 lbs..the manual one. So about 3,321 lbs for a 2+2 manual. Not that big of a difference when compared to a 3kgt. pretty much evens out when i get in my car..lol, im a big guy weighing in at 208; my friend weighs 170 so i dont have the wiehgt advantage. Oh well wrestling season is coming up and i will have to wrestle at 189 so pretty soon my car will have a little bit more scoot. freakonaleash1187 10-05-2004, 11:07 PM so your friend is putting downpipes on a non-turbo? hmm. -Jared igota20hpweedeater 10-05-2004, 11:33 PM yeah thats what i said also about the downpipes but i have looked and found that they do have downpipes for the 3kgt sl's...i only thought they were for turboed cars also, but apparently i have been mistaken. Broke_as_**** 10-05-2004, 11:38 PM Probably just means some piece of the exhaust between the headers and the mid pipes. freakonaleash1187 10-05-2004, 11:45 PM show me these downpipes for a non-turbo car you speak of. i would like to see this. -Jared Broke_as_**** 10-05-2004, 11:51 PM Like I said, probably just some dumbass who some something under his car that looked kind of like something he saw in a magazine. igota20hpweedeater 10-06-2004, 12:05 AM yeah probably is...lol...i actually got into a big argument over the issue with him. i had always thought they were for turbos cars, but like broke said...its probably a pipe between the headers and the midpipes. It doesnt really matter to me...my biggest concern is that he doesnt torque steer into my ass, oh yeah, he believes his car wont have torque steer; yet, i know otherwise. Ill be on the other side of the road when i race him so he can hit some one else, lol. k3smostwanted 10-06-2004, 12:22 AM eh...his car wont be fast enough. dont worry about it. lol nodestination1 02-18-2005, 11:33 PM the 300zx na manual have taller gears than the 3kgt manual. so im assuming from a roll, our cars take the cake, not to mention the fact that the 3kgt's are fwd. I own both, and know for a fact. the 3000gt runs a low 15 to high 14 stock. usually a 15.2 with a good driver and healthy car. A Z runs a 15.5. In terms of weight, my stealth is 3,064 lbs stock. a 2+2 Z is aprox 3,500. and add another 100 for the ATX, not 30. And yes, downpipes exist for the N/A, i have one. www.3sxperformance.com. they are a piece between the cat and headers. Broke_as_**** 02-18-2005, 11:58 PM Hey, all that stuff you think you know is great, but here is apparently something you don't know: Don't pull up a 4 month old thread. This was on page 20. ExTrEmEDrIfT 02-19-2005, 04:07 AM thats good to hear another zed beating a 3000gt bro congratulations.... sounds like u had a blast good luck on the z32.. DeleriousZ 02-19-2005, 05:02 AM this dude needs a swift ban... Zgringo 02-19-2005, 01:00 PM First of all, a Z cannot take an N/A from or roll, or from a stop. Sunny boy your full of shit as a Christmas turkey. We have 3 3000TT's in town and 1 N/A and next to the Z the 3000 TT is one of my favorate cars, but the N/A front wheel drive 3000, no. I just happen to have a 91 300Z N/A I just got out of the paint shop and the engine is stock (for now) and the only car i've got to run with it was a 3000 N/A. He can get me for 60' but from then on, it's by by mo-fo. ZedEx 02-19-2005, 01:13 PM Hey good job pulling up a 4month old thread there turbo... Thread Closed.
