oil in distributorkrucifix 10-03-2004, 08:02 PM I put my 93 altima in a ditch on its side. it would start back up but idle erratically. i pulled the code 1.1 which is a camshaft position sensor, which is located in the distributor. i took the distributor apart to check my sensor with a voltmeter and found it was full of oil. i cleaned it up pretty good. it runs better now but has a severe lack of power and is still very shaky. should i get a new distributor or can i clean it better and still have it work ok? please help Paul Burkhardt 10-03-2004, 11:05 PM I cleaned mine with brake cleaner, worked great. Paul krucifix 10-04-2004, 12:32 PM Thanks, does that dissolve the oil? and also did it leak in there again? because i checked my seal and it looks fine. I was thinking since my car was on its side the oil ran in there somehow Ralli 10-11-2004, 05:23 AM we have had losts of problems with the distributer. We are now on number 4. we own a 1997 bluebird SSS which is the australian version virutally of the Altima. We found that it was the internal seal that kept failing. Cleaning the distributer will probably make it okay for a little while, but after that, it will probably break again. actually looking at your post it was back in MAY, have you had problems with it since????? marriedguy 10-11-2004, 12:12 PM I've been having the same problems with my 97 altima. I live in Florida....stupid me decided to drive it out to Tampa bay and check out the hurricane going through downtown Tampa. Ever since then my car has been driving like a pile of crap. I took it to my mechanic, he replaced my fuel filter, fuel pump, and flushed my fuel injectors....a month later and it's still doing the same thing! It'll drive fine for one day, but the next stall out, spit black smoke out the muffler...lets just say its annoying. I'd rather it be completely broke then work one day and not the next. My dad and I are going to take apart the distributer today...hopefully its the same problem Paul B. has been having. getusmonster 10-17-2004, 11:36 PM Hey guys i had the same problem with my 95 alty and i just fixedi tlast night.
