Hey,

i have a 91 240SX Hatchback. I'm wanting to put 215/40R17s in Front and 235/40R17s in the Back, both on 17x7.5" rims. Do you know if I'll have a problem with this?

Thanx!

You would be much better off using a 215 on all four corners because the 235 has a larger diameter and would adversley affect acceleration and since it is taller it would create a significant amount of oversteer

Taller than what? the fronts? Or my stock size? The 235/40 are .2" bigger diameter than my current setup. Do you really think that would make that much difference?

I know it's a larger diameter, but the wheels I'm looking at are significantly lighter than the 15s I have on the car now. So I don't think it'll hurt acceleration to the point that I'll notice it driving around town...

Thanx again!
Justin

since the 235 is taller than the 215 the additional height will creat more sidewall deflection which inturn induces oversteer

OK. I see.

So what about if I compromise and just go with 225/40s all around? See any problems there?

Thanx!
Justin
