1999 JGC Laredo... CPS? or not?ExKal 10-01-2004, 03:20 PM Whats up guys... I have a 1999 JGC with the 4.0 in it, and I had a problem with it recently I went out to start it the other day to get to work, and the battery was dead. After I cranked it up, it wouldn't stay running in idle. It would just shut off unless I gave it gas. I shifted it into drive and took it around the block, but any time I would take my foot off the gas it would shut off. I also noticed that the rpm gauge was dead. The needle didn't move at all. None of my instrument panel warning lights are on, and the battery has some sort of drain on it. During my short trip around the block, the battery charged up enough to start the car a few times, but now its dead again. I was wondering if anybody knew what my problem was... I'm assuming it may be the CPS, since it seems to be a common problem with the symptoms I'm having, but I was wondering if a faulty cps would put a drain on my battery, or cause the rpm gauge to not work. thanks for your help Dale Aeppli 10-01-2004, 06:46 PM Whats up guys... IF YOURS HAS A UNDERHOOD LIGHT TRY UNPLUGGING IT. ALSO CHECK AT THE DOORS WHERE THE WIRING RUBBER BOOTS ARE MAKE SURE THAT ONE OF THE BOOTS ISN'T BEING SQUASHED WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED AND CAUSING A SHORT CHECK THE FUSES INSIDE THE POWER CONTROL BOX NEXT TO BATTERY. CPS ONLY HAS POWER WHEN KEY IS ON. HOPE THIS HELPS DALE jeepman600@aol.com :headshake vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
