ive got about 1000 dollars to spend. what is the best thing or things i can get.. i already have turbo timer, cat back (stillen), lowering springs, tires, k&n pop chargers, and yeah

im debating on

-blowoff valves.. help performance a lil big bonus on the sound heheh
-down/test pipes expensive to do right? it would be so nice tho
-badass intercooler
-headers

what is the best? im going to have to have someone put it on which will cost labor because i cant do shit on a z man they r hard 2 work on.. specially without very many tools and being so unfamiliar. thx

yo homie g, get da headers, dey add 40 hp yo!!!!!1 anyways, just to let you know, headers don't go on turbo cars. just some information.

now, on to the mods. for $1k, i would personally get downpipes or intercoolerS.

new intercoolers won't help much on stock turbo's, you probably see the biggest gain with downpipes... or if you can afford it, go with the exotic metal manifolds that broke is getting (really impressive numbers) he's got a link to it somewheres around here... the bov's might actually decrease performance rather than increase... the system that came stock on the tt actually used recirculation valves which are more efficient than just venting the air into the atmosphere... but hey, who can resist that awesome awesome sound;)

oh yeah, for downpipes, make sure you get the split/twin chamber/i don't know what they're called ones.... greg dupree is one brand/guy that makes em

Everyone assumes he's got a Z32TT? Any reason why? He didn't say and he could have a Z31T...in which case, I would take that grand and put it to where he would absolutely get the most benefit out of it...an intercooler. You're definately NOT going to get a "big badass" intercooler for that...a spearco kit will run you $1200 + shipping and install...if you go custom, you can get more bang for your buck if you do your homework. If you in fact have a Z31T and have any questions or anything, PM me.

z1 also carries some split-downpipes for very cheap if you dont get in on that group buy. i think there cheapest ones are just under $300.

Well since no one brought it up and its not listed up there in your parts list.

GET AN ECU!

About 12psi is limit for the stock fuel curve and whatnot whereas with a tuned ECU can get you safely to 15psi all the way to redline provided you are careful about it. Also once you have a tuned ECU its just a matter of swapping chips out if you need to upgrade to larger fuel injectors.

So with $1000 dollars:

- ECU, the most widely used in the Jim Wolf unit but the AshSpec ECU is cheaper. Check around twinturbo.net for experience with both. The board there is somewhat in favor of the Ashspec unit so take it all with a grain of salt. If you are going to do this then get an aftermarket boost gauge as well. Anyway Ash unit is $600 dollars, $300 of which you can get back when you send them your old ECU. Jim Wolf goes for $575 on ConceptZs site with a $500 dollar core charge (the money you'll get back). But remember, Jim Wolf units are proven and battle tested, they also have a pre-made performance chip for just about everything you could ever imagine.

- Downpipes, they will help your spool time alot, up to 500 rpms sooner. Have to drop the transmission to install.

- Test pipes, they help, not as much as downpipes but they will help, and you can get pre-made units with high-flow cats already welded in.

- Underdrive pulley, Not a huge power upgrade but it does help and they are fairly cheap, most places list the crank pulley from Unorthodox Racing for about $200. The site claims upwards of 20+ hp gained on a TT, figure about half that.

- Boost controller, A recommended unit is the GReddy Profec, nice simple usage, gives you more control over how your turbos perform.

So between all those simple upgrades I'm sure you can get rid of that nasty money thats cluttering up your bank account.

-James
