Z32 Motor Mountsk3smostwanted 09-30-2004, 10:25 AM im looking at all the parts and things i am going to replace when i do my engine swap. ok...i might as well upgrade motor mounts while the engine is out but i came across a decision. SGP offers solid motor mounts and they claim those are the best but then Z1 offers urethane motor mounts which they claim are the best and they use those on all of their applications? does RPS make the best clutch and flywheel for the TT or is one of the JWT clutch better? Hodo 09-30-2004, 10:36 AM I would perfer solid over urethane, just becuase solid will not losen up over time like urethane will. But the Solid ones will not have the give of the urethane ones. Not to mention I trust SGP more than most other companies just becuase I worked and played so close to there for so long. StealthZ32 09-30-2004, 07:01 PM I say go with the solid mount because you will need those ones you start getting higher and higher HP. If you get urethane you most likely need to change them again unlike the solid mounts. Also with the solid, You dont need to worry about it not giving at all when you go, thats a good thing. Check out sgp's site again and realize you should go for them. Also while you do that get the solid trans mount to avoid future changing. freakonaleash1187 09-30-2004, 07:06 PM one thing bad about solid motor mounts, it will become a lot rougher ride. but me personally, i wouldn't mind, so i would go ahead and get the solid ones. -Jared StealthZ32 09-30-2004, 07:10 PM Yeah but i mean it wont be a drastically horrible thing. Its well worth it in the end. k3smostwanted 09-30-2004, 11:32 PM thanks guys...i was leaning more towards the solid but ehh... also, has anyone felt the RPS and JWT clutches in person? anyone have any opinions? Broke_as_**** 10-01-2004, 03:40 AM Well with my limited experience with the ACT clutch in my car, it was very stiff but very linear engagement so it wasn't a big deal as far as drivability. If its a street car where you aren't slamming shifts all the time, a 4 or 6 puck clutch is going to suck. k3smostwanted 10-01-2004, 11:17 AM right i was thinking JWT made an upgraded clutch that was still easy on you for street use if you are just cruising around. i had a buddy upgrade his clutch in his GS-T now that he is pushing close to 350whp and he kills it every other time he pulls up a to stop light. stupid if you ask me. rizzspeed 10-02-2004, 10:23 PM I'm thinkin the solid motor mounts would transfer way too much of the motor vibrations to the body. While some ppl might think that, that would give the car a more race car feel, that's not what the Z is. I believe the rps segmented flywheel is the best option for a TT. The reason is self-explanatory if you've read up on this great piece. As far as clutches go, if it does it's job as described it's good enough for me. Between rps and jwt, is entirely up to you. Who would you prefer to send your money to? Both companies have good reputations for quality and good products. HAVOK_Z32 10-04-2004, 01:19 PM I'm thinkin the solid motor mounts would transfer way too much of the motor vibrations to the body. While some ppl might think that, that would give the car a more race car feel, that's not what the Z is. Too True... The solid mount would be you best bet for applications over 600hp but your going feel every bit of vibration. I'd suggest getting the NISMO mounts instead. These are the same ones they used on there track cars and are race proved to outlast most anything on the market. The soild aluminum mounts your thinking about I personally don't see being very forgiving for normal day-to-day road use. If I had to decide between the two I'd get the Z1 urethane mounts and call it a day. As far as cluch replacement... I have an ACT extream preasure plate and stock cluch. It's not a bad feel and is completely streetable. Good up to 450hp. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
