Hi

I'm been working very slowly lately. Here is a sneak peak of what I'm working on.

It's a Tamiya Porsche GT3 with a Renaissance GT3r Transkit and Scale Production Red Bull Decals. Overal the transkit is quite nice. the Front bumper fit great (some filling to do). The Rims are nice (picture will come later once cleaned) and 2 nice PE sheet.

The Rear fenders are a bit more tricky. if you need a 100% replica, you should get Scale Production Full resin body or be better than me at putty. Still lot of putty to do before primer.

The Dash is completly scratch built from the orriginal.. it doesn't look very good on close up, but in the car, it will be perfect.

I should put some more time on this, so I hope to finish it soon and keep this thread updated.

Kit: 20$Usd
Transkit: 31$Usd
Decals: 11$usd

Not very cheap...

What come with the transkit is:
1 resin front bumper
1 resin rear wing
2 resin rear fenders
2 resin mirrors
4 resin wheels and rubber tires
1 metal aerial base
2 metal exhaust pipes
1 metal air jack
Soldering wire 0.5mm
1 sheet of stainless photoeteched parts
1 sheet of plated photoeteched parts

all this in a small bag

I'm currently working on the roll cage... might poste picture tomorow

Sadly, the Red Bull livery didn't raced at Lemans, so it's not a contest entry

I think the Red Bull is from American Lemans yes.

It's all about decals, cos there is many Porsche GT3R on Lemans and ALms.

The kit wasn't very cheap but it wasn't too expensive once I took into account everthing you got with it. I am going to watch this thread like a hawk cause it is too cool to miss.

Here is a litle update.. I work very slowly.. I don'T have many time.

Here is the roll cage:

http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/2961141.JPG

Small preview to see if everything fit correctly. You can also see the mods I made to the interior to make it a bit more racing style

http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/2961151.JPG

Small picture of the rims. 2 of them aren't cleaned yet (very time cosuming) I just realized that there is no wheels nuts with the transkit.. I will need to order some (damn)

http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/2961161.JPG

Here is a picture of the worst rubber tire that come on this transkit.. I still don't know how I will fix that

Those tires ares trash, do you have any tires from any tamiya rally models that you could swap the porshe gt tires for cause you shouldn't have to deal with crap like this after paying for a moderately expensive transkit. Good luck man, by the way your role cage looks nice.

Vric

No I don't have any tire that fat... I will try to send an email to renaissance...

Vric

I gave them 100$us on 2 transkit, they better understand haha

ScaleCentral
10-06-2004, 04:52 PM
Renaissance has always been good about things like this. I have unfortunately had to contact them twice over things like this. The first was one of their Ferrari 360 transkits missing the printed "glass" and the second was over the Champion Porsche GT3 decals (on the original sheet a stripe is white, which should be green). In both instances they forwarded me what was needed without any questions.

thanks for reply..

Well my 360Gt transkit is near fine.. I have a broken mirror and the body is a bit damaged on the rubber windsheild, but it's possible to fix it with some work... but this tire is too damaged.

I have sent an email (in french) I will see if they offer me something

Small Update

I received the replacement Tire from renaissance !
One week France to Canada.. that's really great services. They sent me a pair of it even if I asked for one. Nice customer support.

The Body is now primed, and the putty job look perfect. Next step will be paint, then I will show you the result.

I Will go for Mica Blue, since I think Telephonica Blue is way too dark. Mica blue over gray primer should give a good result.

Here is a little update (did I said I was working slowly?)

This is the chassis and under engine details. Pic is not that good, but overall it shows what need to be shown.

I used ModelMaster Flat Black for the chassis, and then weathered it with a mix of Testor Tan and Red. Look nice imo.
The engine painted with different ModelMaster Metallizer. The cover (dark metallic) is brushed and do not look as good as everything. The exhaust pipes are metal and come from the transkit

Nice job on the weathering. I think you should weather the suspension a little bit more though. It looks to "clean".

Nice work :) only al little tip. On a GT3-R is a free exaust so your pipes from the transkit go straight on the exaust collector, you don't need those filters or what is it called in english

Vric

Well it's been very slow, but I have some progress. The body has been painted Mica blue over Gray Primer. I think it look very close to the real car (even if Renaissance ask for Telephonica Blue, a color I really hate work with)

I tryed to put the PE front grill, but it looked horrible (seriously) I think I will leave the vent open. Any idea ?

Nothing is cleaned and picture aren't that great. In fact, you can see the Qtips that help to glue side windows.. This is what I'm working on right now. I know, it's not accurate. Trying to make this kit look good first.

http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/2961191.jpg

Near finished interior. Nothing fancy. Lot of scratch-built and putty. I didn't use the PE seatbelt That come with the transkit becose I plan using them for the Toyota GT-One.

Vric

yes roll cage is messy. this is why I didn't go full detail on interior... As I said before, if you want a full replicate of the GT3r, get the Renaissane InteriorTranskit.

Renaissange just released a Full Body Resin Transkit + Interior for about 60$ good deal imo

I just worked a bit harder on the front.. I don't really like, but it look exactly like the GT3 now.. I will live with that.

Next pics will be the finished product

Any chance of a pic to show how it should be?

Vric; Excellent build. I too have been looking at the Transkit with the aim of building a Carrera Cup car but I don't know what the difference is between a GT3 Carrera Cup, GT3R, and GT3RS now. Really confused!
The RS has another extension on the rear wing doesn't it?
