I just purchased a '95 Grand Cherokee Laredo and the headlights won't come on. Bulbs are good because the headlights come on when checking high beams, although high beams won't stay on. Have to hold lever back. :screwy:

Heard somewhere that it might be a relay problem. Is this correct?? What relay should be replaced and is it located in the fuse box under the hood??

Chilton's was no help.

dksob81,

No, I tested both switch positions and they didn't come on during daylight or nighttime hours. All the other lights (front and back) come on as expected.

When I pull the turn signal lever, the high beams come on but won't stay on. That's how I determined the bulbs were good.

Any thoughts???

Did you check the fuse? My 99 Jeep have fuses for each headlight. One fuse for high beam on passenger side, one for low beam on passenger side, and so on.

You might try checking the light switch and the dimmer switch. I had a bad connection at the dimmer switch do the same thing. Its located on the steering column a little hard to get at.

I replaced the turn signal switch and now they work. Thanks to all for your input.

Was it the Turn signal switch or the dimmer switch?
