grand cherokee craps out...LoveMyShittyJeep 09-29-2004, 12:17 PM hi everybody i have a 94 gjc, V8, 5.2 litres, 160k miles. whenever i push the gas rather gently and keep my foot on it, the engine will hop with rpm jumping up and down for about 200 rpm. when i take my foot off the gas, it will drop to really very low idle and sometimes die. when i push the gas harder, everything is just fine. highway driving is no problem at all, the problem seems to occur only in lower rpm, i would say up to 2,000. idle is ok most of the time, i think it died out in idle only very few times. i have no check engine light. i had one long before the problem started, which i did not check and now it is gone. this was about 4 weeks prior to the actual problem. could this be somehow related? any help on this would be really appreciated. i wanna sell the car pretty soon so i don't want to spend too much money on it, but give it away in a good condition. i already did a throttle body cleaning and just got a fuel injector cleaning and a new catalytic converter. i know that my battery is very old and it has some starting problems, too. any ideas? thanks a lot in advance, sebastian dksob81 09-29-2004, 07:02 PM the old check engine light could be related but I doubt it. Check the Throttle position Sensor. it could also be the Idle Air Control Valve (Motor). if u need any info on checking these email me Joe dksob81@hotmail.com Phillip Johnson 09-30-2004, 08:41 AM Hi Sebastian, Yoou may want to check your Idle Air Control Valve,. These sometimes sieze which will result in the symptoms that you indicate. I had similar problems plus rough running at 1650 rpm, the IAC valve solved the problem. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
