View Full Version : Engine block respray..... Engine block respray..... Rimjob 09-28-2004, 08:35 PM Obviously I have got to remove all leads and stuff, but (not being particularly knowledgable in the mechanics front) can i take the cover off myself with no risks? or shall I just remove the sparks and be careful? If the latter, I would need to block the sparks holes to prevent spillages into the block wouldnt I? or would I be better leaving a proffessional to do it? sorry about all the questions :eek7:......Jim ales 10-02-2004, 01:31 AM You don't even need to remove the spark plugs to remove the valve cover. Just bear in mind that you might have to replace the gasket(s) - the main one and the ones in every spark plug well. You'll also need silicone sealant for when you reinstall the valve cover. I would recommend having the valve cover powedercoated instead of spraying it - looks better and is much more durable. Call around, see what the price might be, and take the valve cover to them, at least that's what I'd do. ales 10-02-2004, 01:43 AM Found this page - the steps at the beginning and at the end are the relevant ones for this case.
