Just wandering...I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.2L V8 1993 and when it is put in drive the voltmeter drops toward 9 but never goes in the red.

1. I had the alternator checked and it was pushing everything it needed to.

2. I replaced the battery and still have the problem.

Thanks for your help...

I would say that was a problem it should never be down that low I got the same jeep, and i am always at 14, give or take a half tach.

Run a DVOM across the battery terminals when running and compare to the dash guage. guages are not always accurate . If you dont have DVOM you can use a analog voltmeter. It should be above 13 volts when running.

it gives me constant voltage whereas the one inside the jeep fluctuates, so I am assuming I have a bad gauge...?

I would say bad guage.
