Well first of all... Since your in Aussey.

Twin Turbo Zeds came in Two-Seater version, and Two-Plus-Two (two seats in the back) version. The Twin Turbos also came in Slicktop roof style.

In America though, Twin Turbo only came in Two-Seater. Yea, we suck.

Although since the Turbos are smaller on JDM Versions of the Zeds, your stock bhp will only be rated at 276bhp. The USDM Versions had 300bhp, due to bigger turbos.

Although the JDM Zeds only had 276bhp, there was much less lag, making for a much more fun sports car.

Anyways, I wouldnt recomend any 1989, 1990, or early year 1991 Zeds. The '89s, and '90s had valvetrain issues, and were prone to damage that could eventually lead to a dead VG30DE.

The early '91s just had electronic issues, nothing too serious, but enough to annoy the hell out of you. I would say go with a late '91, to any other year after that... Much less stress.

But as for your choice of vehicle, be forewarned, Zeds are a bitch to work on... Very hard. They can be very expensive to fix, and typically there are never any SMALL problems.

One hint of advice, dont be cheap... Change the timing belt as often as you can afford (practically, not every month or anything like that). Keep her maintained, and running good, and she'll be good to you...

Welcome to the community...

everything samhain said. just make sure you don't mind living with something that is a sports car so that in turn has the characterisitics of a sports car, not practical, hard to work on, but in the end, it is all good because she will always put a smile on your face.

hey there brother! im also from sydney australia...which suburb you live in? heres a few tips...
-Z32 came in 2 seater and 4 seater(my advice is to get 2 seater,coz they are smaller and lighter then the 4 seater...that's why 2 seater nail 0-60 in 5 to 5.2 seconds...with the over weight 4 seater 0-60 5.4-5.5 seconds...theres a difference there)
-go for late 1991 at least...the engine is better with less problem
-300hp for manual and 280hp for auto..and yea im talking about twin turbo ofcourse...manual zed is much faster...coz one of my friend drive a 1992 Z32 twin turbo auto...the car go hard but not hard enough...my other friend beat him with his 1998 normal WRX...so can u see the big difference between auto and manual?...for phuck sake get a manual! wats the point of driving a twin turbo charge beast with an AUTO transmission..
-heating problem is the number one enemy of the Z32 TT...so a larger intercooler, electric fan,a better radiator and water injection kit are the solution
-timing belt need to be replace

i hope one day me and you can meet up and race...coz im gettin my Z32 twin turbo in 4 months

Both of you are making us AUSSIES (check the spelling Samhain :p) look like dumbshits with your stupid 'wud', 'phuck' and 'wats' etc.
I'm from sydney too. However I'm not some fool from lakemba who dropped out of school at 14 and as such, I know how to spell basic english words like 'would', 'fuck' and 'whats'
Anyways, formalities aside, good stuff getting a Z32TT. When my car is back on the road I may have to race you both. Don't worry, it wont be all bad. I reckon z31 taillights look pretty nice. :)

Cheers.

There seems to be quite a few Z car people in Australia now. I am originally from Perth (on the west coast), and I never remembered seeing too many Z's before I moved to America.
Anyhoooo, congratulations to you guys getting your first Z's in the next couple months. You are gonna love them so much, and you'll be a Z freak for life! :iceslolan

thats mad to here that there are so many 300zx freaks in sydney!!!
i must admit i was totally cluess to the common problems that the 300zx has but there not to bad.
For all you guys in Sydney i strongly urge you guys to get ur 300's in the sydney auto salon.......im sick of seeing no 300's, the last 300zx tt that entered the sydney auto salon was "yume" it made it to the final battle and guess what it won it! the last 300zx in the competion won the competion that says summin, oh n for u guys that duno wtf im talkin bout the auto salon is australia's biggest competion for modified cars, the competion is held in each major city and has a grand final, theres like 200 awards for diferent categories like sound, speed, looks, paint jobs etc.
oh n to mikeman we only speak like this on the net, we juz use shorten slang for words were not dumbfuks haha.....where about in sydney are all u guys from (the ones from sydney im talkin bout of course)

Im heading over to Sydney next year, for about 2 years or so, so that will be enough time for me to get a nice Zed32 Slicktop Twin Turbo, and roll with the other Zed Aficionados.

I see I'm not the only one who has noticed that. Morons driving around in a base model Impreza with a WRX STi badge on the back (Where have we seen this? Oh yeah, Civic DX with a Type R badge) like they're cock jocks who got a 1000hp going to each wheel. Really, how the hell do these people manage to maintain a steady heart beat and convert oxygen to carbon dioxide at the same time?

Z32TT_maniac

broke ass! im not talking about fake ass WRX..im talking about real WRX with one hundred and something kilowatt...there 3 are version of the impreza
-base model Impreza RS..just a weak ass family car with no turbo
-Impreza WRX..one hundred and something kilowatt..i couldnt remember
-and last but not least Impreza WRX STI...the strongest in the Impreza family

so yea im talking about Impreza WRX...they are so smart arse with their driving style..so god damn annoying..if they wana beat my Z..they gotta drive an STI

Z32TT_maniac
10-01-2004, 06:59 AM
oh yea i remember now...the Impreza WRX has one hundred and fifty something kilowatt...nearly 160KW

Samhain you'll love it. I've never been to Sydney, but a couple times to Melbourne and once to Brisbane. I wanted to move there also but they would only let me stay as a guest, thats why I came to Mexico. If everything go's as I plan, in the next 2 years I'll get a sail boat and head that way. Been planing on spending my last few years of my life just seeing the world at a slow pace. Trying to figure how to strap a Z on the deck.

Please. Southside all the way. I'm down near Sutherland/Cronulla.

Get down to Cronulla every friday or saturday night, its like george st just without all the hard cunts hanging their glock replicas out the window shouting at people.

Just cruise around cronulla. Most of the sweet cars find themselves a park at the wall overlooking the surf. Maybe next time im down there I'll take a few photos for you all. Pretty sweet rides down there.
