AF, i need donations......i need some more doors: VR4 vs INTEGRAyoungvr4 09-26-2004, 10:28 PM :disappoin i see a white integra with stickers all over(but looked pretty nice) and since it was so pretty, i decided to race him i'm pretty sure he seen me coming from behind cause he gave me room to get in front of him. once we had a clear straight we punch it at the same time. now mind you, this teg wasn't slow it took my awhile to put 3-4 car lengths on this guy. finally as i was about to shut down, i look in my rearview mirror :eek7: me: WTF? he blows past me as if i was going 70 and him 90, and he ended up putting 2 car lengths on me. again he came from a 4 car length loss to a 2 car length win :disappoin we meet at the light and with a-hole attitude he says him: what happen you were suppose to beat me, you got a vr4 me: any car can be made fast kid(as he was about 17 years old) him: whatever i look down at his stickers and notice a ZEX nitrous sign me: nice time to use your nitrous him: nods his head and laughs shaking my head for 1. loosing to a a-whole, and 2nd loosing to a A-whole i just drove off losses: C5 corvette, 68 GTO, 300ZXTT, and now a 17 year old in his integra :disappoin SiGNAL748 09-26-2004, 10:31 PM Meh. Squeezin. :disappoin turbo2nr 09-26-2004, 10:35 PM damm dat bites.. i would also hate to loos to a integra.. man... damm no2 people... o0o well up grade turbo and do fuel managment and go back for his ass.. lolz more boost! 1 drftk1d 09-26-2004, 10:43 PM Does that count? And since when was young a mod? youngvr4 09-26-2004, 10:52 PM just a few days ago. and yes it counts in my eyes, we had a big depat awhile back about if nitrous is cheating or not. i say its apart of your car so its not cheating. and he did use it when needed, cause i was about to put a couple more lengths on him drftk1d 09-26-2004, 10:53 PM This was in broad daylight? youngvr4 09-26-2004, 10:54 PM about 10 min after sunset GritMaster 09-26-2004, 10:57 PM Young Don't you live in Washington? Isn't illegal to have an open bottle of Nitrous Oxide in your car in this state? Shouldn't that be considered cheating? youngvr4 09-26-2004, 11:00 PM lol, i don't know if its illegal or not, but if you really want to get technical, lol my boost controller is illegal............ GritMaster 09-26-2004, 11:01 PM Cheater. :nono: youngvr4 09-26-2004, 11:06 PM lol drftk1d 09-26-2004, 11:06 PM how is a profec illegal? pnoiSR20 09-26-2004, 11:12 PM boost controllers are illegal in some states??? WTF youngvr4 09-26-2004, 11:27 PM thats just what it say's on the box, or on the manual, i was more than less just playing. but it is true 10sec-Hopeful 09-27-2004, 02:26 AM Nah, I live in Washington and I know a guy with a Fairlady Z, and he has a bottle of Venom in his backseat. Whenever he gets pulled over cops look at it, but they don't question it. But about the boost controller : they are illegal in Washington? Since when? I want to throw a T3/T4 on my Integra some day and I'm pretty sure I'm gonna be needin one of those. Are they illegal? Or is yours just a Japan import part that is not allowed in any state? About the race : I hate those bastards....mom and pops give em couple hundred bucks for clothes and they blow it on a 50 shot of NAWZZZ....I know more than 2-3 kids that do that...irritates me when I see a nice car getting burned by kids....I think if you are racing for slips or $500 bucks it would be fair, but why even waste it to win a race that doesn't even matter? If 300 people watched and you got the respect, maybe, probably not in my book. I hate the spray... chevytrucks92 09-27-2004, 02:39 AM My motto on n02 is: Bottles are for Babies! 2000LS1Z28 09-27-2004, 02:44 AM No big deal. I'm sure you'd rape him from a dig. I'm sure he didn't have to use that big a shot though. VR4's are not known for their top end power, kinda like my Evo. Time for a turbo upgrade. ;) Underground_Killah 09-27-2004, 02:50 AM actually... all you have to say to the cops is (if they question you) "i only use it at the track, and i was about to head there" it's legal on some tracks (at least i know it is here in mobile) but the nawzzzzzzzzzz kiddo's are only hurting themselves... my dad's boss bought a 01 stang v8 from a 19 year old kid who used nos and blew the engine.... the kid paid like 24k for it new... and sold it for 2k to him.. which funny enough, he bought a gigantic v8 engine and put it in it (don't remember off my hand what it was) and races the kids on the track to this day... it's only a matter of time when your engine will go "oh screw this" and plop dead because you're using that god awful thing called nitrus. SR240Z 09-27-2004, 03:54 AM yea they really are, im still an all motor lover though on the inside :evillol: YogsVR4 09-27-2004, 10:41 AM Bottle or no bottle, you take your licks when they come. kittedb18bt 09-27-2004, 10:58 AM dang, i am impressed. wonder what else the teg had done to it. LandoAWD 09-27-2004, 12:25 PM Keep modding youngvr4. ;) TatII 09-27-2004, 12:30 PM i doubt a 50 shot would do anything crazy like that. the highest you can go with a dry kit is usually a 75 shot. that would definitly help. but damn that guy must've got a type R engine or a really worked B18C1 and then sprayed. hmmmmmm anyways yeah i would be mad too. in fact i would be furious. eclipsefan98 09-27-2004, 04:49 PM ....I think if you are racing for slips or $500 bucks it would be fair, but why even waste it to win a race that doesn't even matter? I hate the spray... wow half of that wasnt quoted from "The Fast and the Fagiest"....lol j/p youngvr4 09-27-2004, 05:00 PM i heard his turbo, but even with his turbo he couldn't hold on, though he wasn't doing a bad job. but just imagine coming from a 4 car length loss and just breezing past me. SOB tha_new_guy 09-27-2004, 06:02 PM i heard his turbo, but even with his turbo he couldn't hold on, though he wasn't doing a bad job. but just imagine coming from a 4 car length loss and just breezing past me. SOB Hahaha, I sense some frustration there. :nono: The right answer would be to get a bigger bottle than he, and spray him out of the water with a M4D TYT3 100 SHOT....or something. Ehh, we all lose, you just got suckered. :p Igovert500 09-27-2004, 08:05 PM Great...now I'm not the only one that got beat by a Teg (not sure if that's a good thing or not)...although I had boost leaks to blame it on..... PS, I accept donations via paypal as well, I got 15G aspirations and car payments LjasonL 09-27-2004, 08:38 PM Just spray your car  I don't understand why everybody doesn't use the stuff... CBFryman 09-27-2004, 08:44 PM everybody doesnt use it because some people like to have performance all the time...but a 10lbs bottle "just in case" is a good idea....but i would never use it unless the race had cash on it or some kid in an accord/civic was about to blow me out of the watter.... duplox 09-27-2004, 11:32 PM Along the lines of CBFryman, my motor is being built to produce as much power as it can withstand without breaking... If you've got a turbo and a good boost control system, nitrous is pointless. Just turn up the boost... I'm planning on running about 2/3rds of maximum boost normally, with a 'go' button on my shifter that'll put it in max boost mode, which should be an increase of about 100hp. I can't wait for next spring... LjasonL 09-28-2004, 12:15 AM Along the lines of CBFryman, my motor is being built to produce as much power as it can withstand without breaking... I can't wait for next spring... And then flip the switch, get quicker spool up and cooler intake temps, not to mention more power. duplox 09-28-2004, 12:38 AM I'm already expecting spool up in the low 2000rpm range, don't really need it to be much quicker. Cooler intake temps I can't argue with. Water/alky injection will do the trick for me, along with the air-water IC. To each his own, I prefer boost to juice. If I were building a high revving turbo motor, I'd either do a sequential system or lead the boost with a small shot to get the turbo spinning. In a drag only situation, nitrous is probably the best method of forced induction. Cool intake temps, power whenever you want it, no exhaust restriction. ec437 09-28-2004, 12:47 AM excuse my stupidity... but you could do both turbo and nos, correct? youngvr4 09-28-2004, 12:49 AM correct TatII 09-28-2004, 02:32 AM people usually do a 50-60 shot of nitrous with a pressure switch that stops the spray once the manifold see 6 or 7 psi of boost. its used for smaller engines tryin to spool larger turbos. its great for that. MR2Driver 09-28-2004, 09:44 PM Did you say a 100HP increase from 2/3's max boost to max boost? What kinda car do YOU drive and how much boost are YOU running? GritMaster 09-28-2004, 10:35 PM Not a Honda.... :P His profile says a 69 stang.... 89tracerman 09-28-2004, 11:21 PM i would never install NOS in my RX7 here in Arizona cuz my car would probably blow up in a parking lot some where because of all the high temps. Underground_Killah 09-29-2004, 08:33 AM haha same here on the temperature.. i'm in mobile... imagine the high temperature plus the 100% humidity... Musashi3000GT 09-29-2004, 04:07 PM Well then N2O has come a long way! all you people make it sound like its so safe and easy. I remember a 75 shot turned my cylinder walls into swiss cheese on my old eclipse! my friend blew his 626 and then his CIvic SI with the same crap and all the ricers I knew back in highschool would install nos and then have thier cars die in like 6 months. so whats the deal is it safe crap or are these kids doing something wrong? LjasonL 09-29-2004, 04:19 PM Well then N2O has come a long way! all you people make it sound like its so safe and easy. I've ran it for 2 years on stock internals and stock fuel GritMaster 09-29-2004, 06:18 PM On your subby? It's cause theyre quality made machines. LjasonL 09-29-2004, 06:52 PM Well I can't argue with that  duplox 09-29-2004, 07:06 PM Yes I have a '69 stang, with a 351c(5.8L). Daily boost is gonna be 6psi, max boost between 10-14psi. On nearly 6 liters, a change of 4-8psi is a significant boost in power... On 6psi the motor should make around 550hp. On 14, more around 800. Oh and if done right, N20 is probably more safe than turbocharging or supercharging with the same power increase, simply because nitrous doesn't increase intake temperatures. Its probably less likely to cause an engine to detonate than a turbo or s/c. I think people break their cars because they are so easy to install, practically anyone can do it. And you average anyone doesn't know jack about it, so is likely to do something wrong or abuse it. Musashi3000GT 09-29-2004, 08:45 PM So N2O is safe if done right? well cool but there are so many blown engines out there that give it a bad name. I had it on my 93 dsm and about 8 months after using it I noticed my car would feel weak, real weak! I dynoed it and I had effectively lost about 23 hp! I evenually rebuilt the engine but the internals where torn to heck, so I guess there was something wrong with the kit or the guy who installed it was a dumbass. but yeah now I am scared of installing it cause I've heard so many horror stories about piston rings with holes burned through them, heads that lifted off, cracked blocks, ect... I know most stories are crap but I'm not a mechanic who can separate fact from fiction. so what is the safest way to use it? are there set ups that are safer then others? duplox 09-29-2004, 09:57 PM I said 'more safe', not safe. Common sense... if you put more power through a motor, it will not last as long. Simple. The horror stories of burning holes in pistons, lifting heads off, cracking blocks are most likely from detonation, which is caused by a poorly setup N2O system or an ill prepared engine, or an engine that n2o does not belong on in the first place. Safest system? A wet system. fcdriver 09-29-2004, 10:16 PM Couldn't agree more duplox and a serious mistake I've seen people make is buy bumping timing up after installing the n2o or adding a performance chip which will increase the chances of detonation alot, as far as n2o kits go I would have to recomend using a wet system because it adds fuel to the mixture and isnt making the engine run any leaner. Fuel is your friend running a richer mixture will help lessen the likelyhood of detonation in some casses. Upgraded fuel pump, injectors on fuel injected cars also helps keep things "safer". duplox 09-29-2004, 10:30 PM Now correct me if I'm wrong, but a dry system depends on the oxygen sensor realizing that the motor is rediculously lean and telling the ecu to pour more gas into it... so the motor has to go lean before it'll be corrected by the ecu/o2 sensor and make more power. I'm sorry, but you're making your engine go lean every time you spray as well as betting the life of your engine on your o2 sensor; thats stupid. If it burns out, and you spray, goodbye motor. If you have a 50hp shot on a 120hp engine, that means that the motor is getting 170hp worth of o2, and 120hp worth of fuel... so you're gettin just over 2/3rds of the required fuel, which is EXTREMELY lean. Thats enough heat to burn a hole in a piston or blow the head off the block or put a window in a cylinder wall in a split second. That is probably where most n2o deaths come from. Plus a dry system is easier to set up, more likely for the bolt-on enthusiast to buy. They might be somewhat safe in stock jetting, but then the enthusiast wants more free n2o power and ups the jetting... pretty soon, bye bye motor. tha_new_guy 09-29-2004, 10:41 PM Finally, a man that seems to know his nitrous. LjasonL 09-29-2004, 10:49 PM Now correct me if I'm wrong, but a dry system depends on the oxygen sensor realizing that the motor is rediculously lean and telling the ecu to pour more gas into it Except the Zex dry kit, which raises fuel pressure as soon as you start spraying. duplox 09-29-2004, 11:11 PM Except the Zex dry kit, which raises fuel pressure as soon as you start spraying. Cool, thanks. Thats a much better idea than relying on your ecu/o2. As long as your fuel pump is able to raise the fuel pressure enough... That still requires that either the kit is tailored to a specific engine or at least is tuned on the dyno. A wet kit is still best, as it can meter how much fuel it adds. That zex system without a dyno tune would just be making a good guess, but at least its a fairly safe guess. Actually, n2o is probably the thing I know the least about. My expertise is forced induction, specifically turbos. Musashi3000GT 09-30-2004, 09:12 AM I heard some cases about where the wet kit leaves residue of nitrous rich fuel in the cylinder walls. after spraying the fuel delivery is upped right? well I was told that it can possibly be enought fuel that it can stick and as time progresses small holes begin to appear in the cylinder wall, I think that was the explanation I got regarding my 4G63. as to why I previously said "it turned my block into swiss cheese" Again, I used this stuff like 6 years ago and never since so forgive my ignorance regarding the bottl. 10sec-Hopeful 10-01-2004, 12:09 PM wow half of that wasnt quoted from "The Fast and the Fagiest"....lol j/p I don't blame ya for believing so, but in Portland, OR, I have seen more than 3 or 4 people lose their cars due to slip racing. And as for the cash, if you race near an uptown area, kids with IS300s will put down a grand not caring what you drive....dead serious. Wilsonville, OR, you could probably make $5000 a weekend if you had a car running in the 12s.... Igovert500 10-01-2004, 06:35 PM ...sounds like this might be worth the cross-country trip...I got bills to pay vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
