I don't know what model you have, But I have a CQ-C8100U and 40 is the max.

EVERY headunit has a finite volume setting ...... you just can't keep turning it up and up. Sounds like what you need is the rest of the stereo equipment to make it louder

lol are u using the head unit to power the speakers? or an amp? i never really had this problem because if ur not high passing the speakers.. and ur running it off the head unit once u get past 80% it should start sound pretty crappy

I wouldn't know on a panasonic unit, but both my aiwa and alpine went out of mute as soon as you turned the volume up or down.

Nah Im not running an amp and its sposed to go louder thats why im complaining, but one day all it would do was 40 when it could alot more. Its loud enough to where you can hear it clearly ,but it doesnt go any louder to where it sound crappy without bass treble and all that stuff.Max levels differ on different headunits, but this one is spossed to go louder.

have you gotten it to go louder before? If so, sounds like you have a busted headunit...

do you have bass and treble turned all the way down?

Sounds like you should get an amp that way you won't have to turn it up to 40. Plus if you are turning the volume all the way up it has to sound distorted at least mine did, way before the max level without an amp.- I'm guessing your speakers aren't stock?I also agree with Haibane, something sounds busted.

Everything on the unit works fine, but like I said one day it stopped and wont go any further. My car is a 98 civic with the stock system except for this unit. All treble bass and that stuff is on normal, but its just not going any louder when I use to play it at 50-55

If you got a "loudness" feature then make sure that is on. Also if you look at the EQ settings, there is a way to make it louder I don't know what its called but like if something is in the -'s then make it go up into the positives. It worked for my HU, it used to be like I could get it into the 30's and 40's for me to hear it, but I found like this internal gain control or something and turned it to +4 and now 25 is good enough for me. Hoped this helped any.
