S14 worth the money?Pavlo 09-25-2004, 10:47 AM I was considering buying an s14 cause they are prettier, but then I saw s13 for soo much cheaper. And since I am considering of swaping sr20det in it would not s13 be a better choice. You ll have about 3-4 g left! for that money you can add o lot of stuff(t3t4, intercooler, boost controller) and smoke any s14 with a sr20 in it. Can some one tell me reasons why buy a s14 or a s13. Thanks publicenemy137 09-25-2004, 10:58 AM it's all up to you man, subjective. I bought an s14 b/c it's better looking, and better build quality, not to mention a much nicer interior for the ladys. The s13's pop-up lights look old and cheap, but to each his own. If you think it's worth it get it, don't listen to what other people's opinions are. Pavlo 09-25-2004, 12:37 PM But if you don't like the headlights you can do a s15 conversion, I personally like the interior as well especially with aftermarket leather buckets. And by better build quality you mean ..... I wanted s14 really bad because it looked better now that money is the factor I started considering s13. PLus I want to drift and I am going to crash at least once. So I think S13 is a better choice. If I crash i can find parts at the junkyard which is harder to do with a s14. This thread I just wanted to know what people think is a better choice. I know what I want now, but somebody might change my opinion about this. publicenemy137 09-25-2004, 04:35 PM s14's parts are harder to find. If you plan to drift then get an s13, much easier to find parts. S14's have better build quality, the dash on the s14 is much higher quality the cheap plastic in s13s. Also s13s have more problems, a lot of minor ones. evilmechanic 09-25-2004, 06:22 PM I went with an s14 becasue i like the body style alot better. Plus the s14 motor comes a lil stronger stock. I just figured if im gonna spend money anyway i might as well get the best. With the car in better shape the ride will feel better to you. If you do s13 and drop the motor in with no suspension and no wheels, you will be all over the place which is not good for a nice clean drift. Pavlo 09-25-2004, 07:56 PM I am planning on building sr20det & doing suspension (tein coilovers) Also If you change seats in s13 to nicer once it looks a lot better inside. Thanks for sharing your opinion about this. J_Spec_NiTeMaRe 09-25-2004, 09:14 PM S14 for fuckin ever. publicenemy137 09-25-2004, 10:29 PM I went with an s14 becasue i like the body style alot better. I think he's talkin about S14 with KA motors in the states, they have the same power as s13's. sidewayzS13 09-25-2004, 10:42 PM oh my a s13 w/ s 15 headlight conversion personally i think that looks horrible but to each his own. and the s14 only comes w/ more power stock if u have a sohc but the later s13 came w/ dohc just like the s14's so there is no power advantage. and there are many other threads just like this one so do a search for some other threads for more opinions and i say s13 all the way S15_nz 09-26-2004, 12:23 AM Go s14, especially if your going to do a sr swap sidewayzS13 09-26-2004, 01:15 AM why do u say "go s14 especially if your going to do a sr swap"? what the reasoning behind that satement Pavlo 09-26-2004, 01:05 PM I did do a research, personaly i think a nice clean 180sx looks good. S13 S14 Lighter CHEAPER easier to find parts for if hit during drift you don't feel too bad good for swaping sr20 more agile spory S14 prettier prettier prettier prettier Laxury bigger good for pimping out ka24de-t If hit you feel really bad niswiz 09-26-2004, 09:54 PM the S14 has a better center of gravity makin it easier to drift. the S13 dose not in turn it has more understeer. sidewayzS13 09-26-2004, 10:03 PM i say they r both badass drift cars it just depends on personal preference RedFC3S 09-26-2004, 10:13 PM damn, this thread is full of morons. "The S13 drifts better!" You can drift anything, its all about skill. Also, do you people now just buy 240's just to drift? publicenemy137 09-26-2004, 10:51 PM I did do a research, personaly i think a nice clean 180sx looks good. S13 S14 Lighter CHEAPER easier to find parts for if hit during drift you don't feel too bad good for swaping sr20 more agile spory S14 prettier prettier prettier prettier Laxury bigger good for pimping out ka24de-t If hit you feel really bad how is the s13 more sporty? Also if you hit something and feel bad, is that necessarily a bad thing? As opposed to trashing your car and not caring about it b/c it's a pos anyways. And s13's aren't more agile, s14's are (stiffer chassis). Just b/c something looks better and is higher quality it doesn't necessarily mean's it's pretty or luxury. Just b/c you don't have the money to get something nicer, you shouldn't bash on it. hope you don't get a 240, i'm tired of all these band-wagon jumping newbs who always talks about some engine swap they are never going to get S15_nz 09-27-2004, 02:25 AM i agree with publicenemy, if your going to get a 240sx smashed then dont get 1 at all....its people like you who make them harder to get. If you dont care if u crash your car then go and get a civic or something niswiz 09-27-2004, 02:44 AM well thats why i bought mine, and they also look tighter than and XXS shirt on Bruce Bruce. publicenemy137 09-27-2004, 04:00 PM i agree with publicenemy, if your going to get a 240sx smashed then dont get 1 at all....its people like you who make them harder to get. If you dont care if u crash your car then go and get a civic or something he has a civic right now. We always have weekly ppl comin i here with civics, sayign "oh I am going to get an s13 b/c it's cheaper than I can swap an sr20det into it." In the end they probably just get altezzas or super big wings instead, but they just wanted to feel big once as if they were gettin a nicer car :loser: Pavlo 09-27-2004, 07:00 PM Umm i do have an s13 give me ur email i ll send you the pics once I get them. Then what I ment is if you hit an s14 it is a pain in the ass to fix it because you cant really find it at junkyards. Please tell me advatages of S14 over S13 besides that it looks better and nicer quality. I look after my cars, hate when its fucked up or not clean. And about sr20det I will buy it, how elso can i run s13 with a blown motor? The civic is very clean and does not have any upgades, I mean why even bother doing them, its a civic. By sporty I mean more agile and sporty looking to me. And I am not a noob. I can assamble engine, and fix most of the problems. At leat my civic is not lowered untill a hard negative camber occurs. (its not lowered at all, plain stock) I just have different opinion about all of this. Pavlo 09-27-2004, 07:16 PM Can someone just close this thread, i realized how pointless it is. Its all about your choice so please stop b1tching. And thanks to all of you that posted here expressed their thought about this. EVOclipse 09-28-2004, 01:36 PM PLus I want to drift and I am going to crash at least once. So I think S13 is a better choice. If I crash i can find parts at the junkyard which is harder to do with a s14. . ummmm i dont think you should plan on crashing if you're going to drift. its just not the right mindset to start out with i mean, losing control of your car is already taxing enough. Pavlo 09-28-2004, 04:22 PM Yeah well everybody told me that is is almost imposible to learn to drift with out crashing. Hoping to be one of those who does not. BaDmAn 09-28-2004, 04:51 PM Why do you want to get into drifting anyways? Just a friendly question :P 240sxAddict 09-28-2004, 05:38 PM go with the s14 just do it its the right choice D-Bo 01-18-2005, 06:38 PM pavlo, the thing is.. is that you WILL run into walls or curbs.. you can't ALWAYS keep control of your car.. even the pros loose it sometimes.. don't be discouraged.. if you're set on drifting then plan to put some money into your engine, plan to have new tires every month or so and plan to have a lot of body work done. i'm not trying to discourage you i'm just saying thats the brunt reality of it.. logik23 01-18-2005, 06:44 PM Dude, I don't wanna tell you this cause you've been here for a while and whatnot, but CHECK THE DATE, NEWB!!!!!!!! lol -ExCesS- 01-18-2005, 07:07 PM this is my "future plans" right now im in the undecided group. . .i guess im in the same boat as you. but the only thiing that makes us diff is if i get an S14, im turboing it why? usually lower miles if i get an S13 hopefully it already has an SR or i'll invest into doing it to me their basicly the same just diffrent looks. . .its all in your budget and what your planning to do D-Bo 01-18-2005, 07:15 PM WTF.. i totally recognized this thread but didn't think about it.. i think its cause some noob (other than myself) voted on that stupid poll.. DAMN flame me all you want. its my bad.. actually i may have made up for it with the pics of 'sleepy eyes'!!!!!! logik23 01-18-2005, 07:35 PM Yeah, those kick ass, but why is your car out in the salt and snow of the disgusting outdoors? D-Bo 01-18-2005, 07:39 PM cause i can't afford to store it this year. its just sitting in my driveway.. next winter it'll be in heated storage vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
