it's your water pump. there is a lil hole in the water pump when the seal in the bearing is broke it will allow coolant to leak out, this is an warnign system on the water pump to let u know that it is bad. it is located right above the Crank Shaft Pulley (in the middle of the engine. if u plan on replacing it yourself and need instructions email me, Joe dksob81@hotmail.com

At the dealers in the city that would be a two hour job plus parts and shop supplies.

should be able to find a lower price tho

hope he was able to make more than that during the time it took the shop to do the job.

$300 bones for a waterpump in a I6? Wow, hope your mechanic bought you dinner before he screwed you.

hahahaha,
yea the H2O pump only cost around $60 for my 5.2L, and it only took me an hour to put it in, $300 is too much out of my pocket.

Make sure u keep that tree watered, heck have that mechanic hook a water pump up to it as well. and maybe u could send me a couple seeds so I can plant one in my backyard.....lol

Dont feel bad for paying 300 dollars for it, Iam in japan and I had to order the water pump online for my JGC 95 it cost me 65 dollars and the mechanic charged me 300 just for the labor... so Thats life in Japan..

the labor is $70 an hour here, he hit me for 2 1/2 hours ( probably an hour too long) 70 for the part, 15 for flush & fluid, FING TAX. it did not take long to get to $300.
Sorry no money tree, thanks for kicking me while I was down

Well my wfie had hers out the other day, while loking at another vehicle, and her water pump went out.

She did not call or anything and authroized the dalship to fix it, arrggg, so yes 310 dollars out the window. I came home only to find out later what had happened. So yes that is the going price for one now days. If only she had towed it home, might have couased me a fdew hours of agrivation, but oh well. 3rd time for this jeep and only 89,000 miles on it.

Way to dig up old threads....grr....

3 pumps in less than 90K miles is a problem, that wouldn't make me too happy.
