Turn Signal/Hazard and Brake Light Problemhoowahfun 09-23-2004, 05:09 PM Hi, I have a 2000 Jeep grand cherokee 4wd and recently i had a brake light go bad. all 3 brake lights work when the lights are off, but when the lights are on and i hit the brakes, the left taillight goes out completely. Also, my hazards/turn signals won't work properly. every time i put in a new fuse and try to signal the fuse blows. then the signals/hazards stop working altogether. any help will be greatly appreciated. thanks. leowolf 09-23-2004, 05:43 PM I hate light problems, but usually it is a problem within the bulb or the wrong bulb in the socket. a 1056 will fit nicely down the hole of an 1157 and short the prongs together. if its the old round base bulbs check each one to make sure they have the same number of prongs as the socket, it wouldn't suprise me a bit if some bone head put a single prong in a two prong hole, i dont know why but the dealship usually messes this up. Don't rule out the front bulbs, they can short interally too. tipically the bulb numbers are 1056 and 1157, they dont mix. good luck hoowahfun 09-24-2004, 12:28 AM I figured out what was wrong. I have wiring for brake lights and turn signals for a trailer, and they were hanging down hooked on my hitch. 2 of the wires wore through the wire and were shorting out, that's why my turn signals were blowing the fuse every time because the ground wire is run from the left taillight. so i cut that off and replaced it then put in a new bulb and everything works. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
