Cold Start!Brightspark 09-21-2004, 11:33 PM Hi All, Needs some advice on starting in the mornings? I seem to have problems in the morning starting my 1994 320i coupe, well not starting because she starts, but I have to wait at least 30 secs/when the needle is in the blue section on the temp gauge. I was told it was something to do with the Cold-Start sensor? could someone please enlighten me on this and if possible give details and location. Thanx. mystermathers 10-18-2004, 05:09 PM There should be a cold start valve on your car controled by a thermo sensor which tell the cold start valve when to operate. I had problems with my valve not shutting off when the temp. was good so it just dumped to much fuel into the engine and it wouldn't stay running, so I blocked off the valve and the car ran great but it took a while for the car to start. So, I would first replace the thermo switch/sensor..it should be the one on the very front of the water neck with a fat nut on it..it;s real easy to get to and easy to replace. Try that..the sensor should run about $60-70. If that's not the case then the valve might be deffective and I bought a new cold start valve for my car at Advance Auto Parts for $150, but that as well is easy to change to, it has a couple of hex screws on it and it pulls out. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
