Fuse Keeps Blowing Under Hood By Batterycalamari925 09-20-2004, 01:09 PM The Fuse Under The Hood Keeps Blowing Out And Every Time It Does My Car Wont Start The Battery Dies I Just Bought The Battery So I Don't Think That Is It The Fuse I Am Using Is The Flat Kind....do You Think It's The Wires Or What Every Time I Change The Fuse I Can Use It Until The Next Time I Turn It On So I Just Get One Use Per Fuse It's Crazy Any Suggestions Would Help I Just Need An Idea Of Where To Start?????? Brandish 09-20-2004, 01:52 PM There's got to be a short somewhere in your power wire. Either that or there's something seriously wrong with yor amp(s). I'd stop putting fuses in until you figure it out. Haibane 09-20-2004, 01:53 PM I think you are not grounding out your amplifier well. calamari925 09-20-2004, 02:11 PM Well The Amp Works When I Change The Fuse So Im Thinking It's Something With The Wires And I Cant Seem To Find Where The Ground Wire Is Grounded At Since I Had It Installed At Some Shop And I Have Since Moved But What's The Deal With The Car Dying?? Any Idea? Haibane 09-20-2004, 02:28 PM something is faulty in the wiring. I can't really think at the moment. calamari925 09-20-2004, 04:14 PM Any Other Ideas Im Lost Here I Don't Know What To Do Brandish 09-21-2004, 01:46 AM Remove the power wire from the amp, tape up the terminal and put a new fuse in. If your having the same problem, then there's a short somewhere in your power wire and you're gonna have to follow it front to back to find where the short is happening. It's a shitty job, but it's better than having your car set on fire due to a wire overheating. calamari925 09-21-2004, 10:17 AM ok well i have changed the fuse with the power disconnected already so my next question is do you think it could be the little black fuse box i have because the kind of fuse i used to use was the glass one and i never had this problem im thinking the little fuse box is what's causing it.. it looks a little burned on the inside from the fuse blowing and making the plastic melt... your thoughts? Haibane 09-21-2004, 10:25 AM What size fuse are you using, what wire are you using? calamari925 09-21-2004, 10:38 AM well it's a flat fuse like you would find under the dash board im using 30 now but i have tried all sizes up to 30 still nothing as for the wire it's a red wire maybe like an 8 g or 4 not to sure i know that the ground wire is one size bigger im thinking of swapping out the fuse box any good suggestions on which one to get and where? Haibane 09-21-2004, 10:47 AM what is the total of the fuses on the amp? calamari925 09-21-2004, 10:51 AM just 2 Haibane 09-21-2004, 11:04 AM umm I meant what is the total ampheres of the 2 fuses calamari925 09-21-2004, 11:08 AM it's 60 Haibane 09-21-2004, 11:09 AM then get yourself a 60amp fuse, you should be fine :) calamari925 09-21-2004, 11:14 AM i will try it i hope it works..... thanks for all the help calamari925 09-21-2004, 04:06 PM well i did that and now it still don't work i know there is power going through the wire end to end but there has got to be a easier way than fallowing it from one end to another no one thinks that the fuse holder may be bad? Haibane 09-21-2004, 05:30 PM no fuseholder shouldn't be bad... Get a voltmeter :) find the problem calamari925 09-22-2004, 10:34 AM and once i get that how do i know if i found the problem i never used a volt meter before?? Haibane 09-22-2004, 11:08 AM well test at the batter the amount of voltage. then test the power... calamari925 09-22-2004, 11:31 AM so test how many volts are coming from the battery it self then test how many volts are going to the other end of the power wire? Haibane 09-22-2004, 12:04 PM You got it vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
