The first link shows how/where the filter cartridge is on a Saturn with the same 2.2 Ecotec engine.

The second link is a discussion about the Ecotec oil change, filter number should be found here or the other link. Enjoy.

the Delco part # is a pf456g and it is located on the drivers side front of the engine, just ahead of where the transaxle and engine bolt together.

ok i have a 2004 eco, i can tell u everything u need to know

1 the oil filter is a cartridge, that sets inside the engine, and its a bitch, i had to buy a tool to reach it, i didnt buy the recommended one, i bought a adjustble wrech that goes out to 1 and 1/4 inch, u will need all of it ti, if u dont know where its at, its the black round cap, with a hex nut on top, its all plastic, the specific tool for the job costs about 50 bucks, so its up to u if u want to buy it, i just man handled the wrench, when u get the cap out the filter is snapped onto the lid, pop it off but be warned oil will run out, then pop your new one on and screw it back in
