Interior Door Panel Paint Peeling

The paint has worn and peeled off the top of my '93 J30's drivers side door panel where you rest your arm. It is a tan color. The Infiniti dealer tells me the only fix is to replace the entire door panel or have a custom car upholstery shop re-sew a new leather section onto the door panel. I have noticed other J30's in parking lots with a similar problem so it appears the paint they use is not durable for the long haul. Since the car is 11 yrs. old I hate to invest in a new door panel. I suppose I could get one from a salvage yard perhaps.

Does anyone know of any vinyl tough-up paint that is available that will match the tan interior color of the J30?

Thanks in advance!

My J30 did the same thing and I had the door panels reupholstered. BTW - the J30 door panels are NOT leather but vinyl. That's why they peel like that. Leather wouldn't do that.

Soooo, long story short, I had the door panels redone for $225 to redo two door panels (my bad ones were the rear door panels). They look as good as new now.

Here's a nico thread with pictures.
