1.6 GTi Corolla. Can i fit a turbo??Mr.Corolla 09-18-2004, 09:00 PM Hi I shall be doing a engine swap on my corolla GL (currently a 1.3 12 valve) for a 1.6 twin cam 16 valve (very fast but needs 2 b faster!!) Well i was wondering if a turbo or supercharger could be slung into the mix to start to speed things up. My aim is to have a 10 sec. car with the all the mods im doing to the engine aswell. so anyone who can help me with my turbo hopes just drop me a line. Maybe one day my street racing dream will be reality. Cheers kman10587 09-18-2004, 09:02 PM What year Corolla is it? Underground_Killah 09-18-2004, 09:04 PM in a corolla?!? well at least your not in a brand new bought civic... What do you need a 10 sec car for anyway? Anything can be done as long as you have the money and time to do it. just please... PLEASE don't be this guy http://www.majinarmy.com/gtivsricecorolla.avi xyfalconsrock 09-18-2004, 09:26 PM With enough money anything can be done. But if you are really shooting for 10seconds, how about a rotary engine swap, I've seen heaps here in Australia.Early model corollas with 20B rotaries and big turbos easily running 10s.Thats if you have the money of course. ac427cpe 09-18-2004, 09:28 PM a 10 second 4age powerd corolla... i'm not sure that is possible Mr.Corolla 09-19-2004, 12:22 AM its a 1990 corolla but i have seen a bloke who slapped a turbo on his and he was running under 10 seconds (9.24 2 b exact) Mr.Corolla 09-19-2004, 12:27 AM oh and underground killah i wont be that guy dont worry. oh and before i forget do u suppose new cams and bits like that for the engine will make that much difference? ac427cpe 09-19-2004, 12:58 AM I can guarantee you that he didn’t just “slap a turbo on” the engine. The 4ag based engine is what a Toyota Formula Atlantic uses, and those won’t run a 10 second ¼ mile- yes, I know that gearing also affects this, but you won’t be able to get your car as light as an Atlantic either. Best idea, don’t use the 4age as your platform. A 20b under enough boost can definitely go very fast, especially in a car as light as a Corolla. MR2Driver 09-19-2004, 01:09 AM or a 3S-GTE, great engine, should fit and its Turbo nissanfanatic 09-19-2004, 06:19 PM Your looking at much more than a turbo for ten second runs. Go to the forced induction forums and read all three of the top threads with *important* in front of them. Then basically read everything you can get your hands on about your car. If you do get your car in the tens, it will be no sunday drive car. Daily driver ten second cars really only exist in FATF with a few exeptions. $$$$$. HighRev87 09-19-2004, 08:26 PM What do you need a 10 sec car for anyway? He still owes Toretto. EDIT: Bast spelar evar! i3o2Matt 09-19-2004, 09:44 PM lol i think ur spellings off...its actually "Toretto"...but o well...haha good one tho EDIT: Ha Ha :p PearlGT 09-20-2004, 08:30 PM Granny shifting not double clutching like you're supposed to!!! NOW ME AND THE MAD SCIENTIST GOTTA RIP THE BLOCK APART AND REPLACE THE PISTON RINGS YA FRIED JEEEEZE If you have the cash, do an engine swap and get something thats more fitted to "go fast". why aim so low as 10 seconds? I know i would be content with a 12-12.5 second car and you probably wont meet a lot of "street racers" much faster than that... at all.... SIG HEIL PAUL WALKER!!! :( i3o2Matt 09-20-2004, 09:07 PM nah sayin that like all the cars on F&F were more like 13-second cars...supposedly...not 10's like they were sayin...(this is just what i've heard) HighRev87 09-20-2004, 10:15 PM Oh yes, I too cried when I heard that they made things up for a movie script... nissanfanatic 09-20-2004, 11:14 PM The supra was the only bad-ass car in there. It runs 12s I believe and puts 545whp to the ground. All the other ones were show worthy only. Mr.Corolla 09-21-2004, 06:39 PM Yeh Toretto is gonna kill me i dont know what i did with that supra..anywayz i think a MR2 engine will be ok i can turbo that right?? i think i could settle for 12.5 secs. HighRev87 09-21-2004, 08:35 PM hah "settle for 12.5" Do you realize 12.5 is pretty damn nice? Not the best but it is a good street machine. 10sec-Hopeful 09-22-2004, 12:46 PM He still owes Toretto. EDIT: Bast spelar evar! Hahaha.... Seriously though, why do you need a 10 sec grocery getter? I don't know anyone who has a 10 sec car that drives it on the streets. Almost all just take it to the track.... As for "settling" for 12.5 seconds...anything in the 12s can usually beat most street cars, including the odd Viper and Corvette, and Cobras. If you are driving a 10-11 second car, you don't need to be street racing to prove anything vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
