Been looking all over the web trying to find out the right timing marks to use for a 1985 2.8L V6 ... manuals all show a timing pointer w/degree markings.. all I have is the picture below:

I need to figure out where to time this sucker. I put a rod in the #1 hole and I think the bottom mark -- IE the one by sensor holder but above the "0" in the pick is TDC ... but when I time to that mark the sucker won't start. If I time to the first one, then the puppy runs but won't idle down below about 1200rpm and misses badly at high rpm... low on power lugging to ... anyone seen a harmonic balance like this. This motor has the following:

No Emission Controls left
Offy Manifold
4bbl Holley 390cfm carb
Comp Cams Stage 1 cam
Duraspark-ed non emiss control ignition with old manual distrib


I posted this on a couple of other boards and no luck so far. Hoping someone has seen a setup like the pic and can help.

What are the spark plugs looking like? Do you hear any vacuume leaks?
