where is the connector for the odometer for 99 passat

can anyone please tell me where the connection is between the odometer and the transmission on a 99 passat? my car was in the shop and something accidently got unhooked now my speedometer odometer and gas gauge dont function... its supposed to be a wire with a connector going to the transmission ..(i think i had one on my 94 jetta) thanks alot.

The speed sensor is located on the transmission, but would not affect the gas gauge. If they all went out at the same time suspect the instrument cluster or cluster electrical connector.

can you tell me exactly where the speed sensor is located so i can check...? they all just stopped working but not at the same time the odometer and speedometer at first then then the gas gauge way later... thanks

That's good, both can be caused by their respective sensors. There are two sensorson the transaxle. One is on the topside, closer to the battery, it's for the electronics. The other is accessable from the top also, but hidden around the backside of the engine on the differential side of the transaxle. It's the one for the speedometer. Note that often the problem lies in the plastic gear that drives the sensor.
