02 RSX Type S or 05 Scion tC?TSRyder6 09-13-2004, 03:06 PM What car is better? SiGNAL748 09-13-2004, 03:08 PM RSX-S Hands Down. tC=Camry crazy_canuck 09-13-2004, 05:12 PM The tC will soon have tons of mods but it'll be the next civic. Its aimed at 16 year olds. It is a car with good value though.....many options for a low price. However the tranny that was taken out of a tractor, heavier body and big moonroof give the RSX the performance advantage. I'd take the RSX. RSX-S777 09-13-2004, 06:59 PM I'm partial to the RSX, too. The tC's a nice little car, but it's no Acura... mmont0 09-13-2004, 07:51 PM tC is much cheaper and when adding a supercharger it comes out to the same price as a typeS. The TypeS will probably still take a supercharged tC. Spend the money on an RSX, you won't be dissapointed. SiGNAL748 09-13-2004, 07:53 PM I've said it once, and i'll say it again. tC=Camry RSX on the other hand=Beast CaTasHtRoPhE 67 09-13-2004, 10:26 PM rsx there no conparison integralover 09-14-2004, 02:03 AM RSX for sure b18 ls 09-14-2004, 12:35 PM I can't believe this question was asked! mason_RsX 09-29-2004, 08:40 AM hahaha...gee I wonder if people in the rsx forum would pick a friggin camry over their car? cartoys21 09-29-2004, 05:55 PM I test drove a tc the other day just for the hell of it and wow.....no comparison. I drove my type-s to the Toyota dealership so I'd go right from that to the tc and there was a HUGE difference in performance, "cheapness" on the inside, etc. etc.. Go with the RSX. NerveAgent 10-04-2004, 03:27 PM tC with ubercharger > 05' type-s crazy_canuck 10-04-2004, 05:18 PM How so? Its porkier and with a S/C it'll probably be a drivers race with the RSX. The huge moonroof takes away from handling, and the camry/John Deere tranny takes away any benefits the tC should have over the RSX. The S/C will put it at about 200hp/206tq, and maybe if they release the 300hp extreme s/c then it'll whip the RSX. mmont0 10-07-2004, 09:15 PM tC with ubercharger > 05' type-s Hmm, I doubt it, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see when they start selling them and testing their performance. In a fair comparison --> type-S w/SC > tC w/SC type-S N/A > tC N/A RSX-S777 10-08-2004, 07:36 PM type-S w/SC > tC w/SC type-S N/A > tC N/A yep. Shaguar47 10-08-2004, 07:52 PM I love the tC but then again I like the RSX. Tough desicion on my part but I'd pick a RSX hands down. But for value, the tc isn't to shabby. The supercharger will be something to see when it comes available. But there's just something about he looks of the tc I like but the same goes for the RSX. I dunno RSX-S777 10-10-2004, 06:39 PM tc's definitely a nice looking car- and the price is extremely appealing. I also like that Toyota is paying attention to trends as far as performance is concerned and offering the factory SC. I wish Honda would follow suit. For now the RSX is still the better performer, but it will be a sad day when entry level cars like the tc can blow out Acura's best efforts (NSX aside). It's uncomfortably close to being a reality, though. ghetto7o2azn 10-10-2004, 07:33 PM Hmm, I doubt it, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see when they start selling them and testing their performance. In a fair comparison --> type-S w/SC > tC w/SC type-S N/A > tC N/A how can u compare that? the supercharged tc brings it to arround $20,000 which is still cheaper than an rsx-s ($23,500), plus the rsx doesnt even come with a s/c from the factory... so lets say it costs 2,000 for the s/c (which more expensive ones can easily found) not including labor ... now you have at least a $25,500 car.... so now your taking a car that actually costs more, then modifying it and comparing it to a cheaper stock car... now THAT is an even more stupid comparo then the original... how is that comparison fair? it makes absolutely no sense to me MR2Driver 10-12-2004, 12:56 AM If the SC gives the tC over 200whp and 200lb's of TQ it should have a nice edge over the Type-S... but thats just speculation of stock vs stock. I wonder how much boost the engine will be able to handle stock. W/ a MBC the tC could be a low 14's car, if Toyota dont completely under-engineer this future "option" ghetto7o2azn 10-13-2004, 12:19 AM i think that toyota made the tc have a low c/r with the thought of f/i in mind... i wouldnt be supprised if turboes come out for this car... jmrev 10-13-2004, 12:49 PM celica and rsx would be a better comparison. friday86 10-13-2004, 01:48 PM hmmm... you should ask the same question in a tC forum... mason_RsX 10-13-2004, 04:42 PM Yeah I wonder what they will say.....rsx vs celica has been compred enough...I really have to go with the rsx because no matter what toyota wants to tell you, its a camry...and a supercharged camry crazy_canuck 10-13-2004, 04:51 PM Celica Vs. RSX: Celica is slightly better handling, has better tires, good motor. RSX has a few more wheel horsepower, with better tires its just as good of a handler, MUCH bigger aftermarket and looks loads better. RSX > Celica. tC is a great value. If you're looking for nice luxury features in a sporty form for a cheap price with a soon to be huge aftermarket then get the Scion (and a magazine already turbo'd the tC). The RSX has a far better tranny despite the grinding (the tC uses the camry tranny) and is lighter and doesn't have as huge of a moonroof so its a better handler, and it has an older demographic (i.e. more respect and lower insurance). For me, RSX > tC Pavlo 10-13-2004, 05:07 PM I think tc is more of a show car, it's pretty, comfy, prolly good to pic up ladies. I would buy just to make it look pretty, not to race. While rsx-s is a nice race car, the 05 one has 220 hp, the older one is also nice, also i prefer honda over toyota. aznxthuggie 10-15-2004, 01:08 AM well if u guys think about it.. the tc + the supercharger barely gets to $20k.. which is the same price u can get the base rsx for........ also i duno about u guys but in terms of looks.. rsx > tc the interior is cheap compared to the acura, and the rsx type s is no race car.. maybe a jdm integra type r is (one of the best fwd handling cars in the world) but neither of these cars should be considered a race car.. and the topic of celica vs rsx has been bashed to death so many times its not even funny anyways heres my conclusion if u want a practical cheap car that comes stock with many options the average civic doesn't get you.. and enough power and torque to get you around and maybe just a bit more to have a lil fun.. then get the tc if u have enough money to get a nice looking quick sporty coupe then get the rsx 97Lude 10-15-2004, 01:26 AM The RSX is a better car. jmrev 10-15-2004, 07:55 PM there is a rsx vs celica comparison in the rsx forums, maybe i should of placed it at cars in general RSX-S777 10-15-2004, 09:56 PM if u want a practical cheap car that comes stock with many options the average civic doesn't get you.. and enough power and torque to get you around and maybe just a bit more to have a lil fun.. then get the tc if u have enough money to get a nice looking quick sporty coupe then get the rsx Well said. mmont0 10-15-2004, 11:03 PM how can u compare that? the supercharged tc brings it to arround $20,000 which is still cheaper than an rsx-s ($23,500), plus the rsx doesnt even come with a s/c from the factory... so lets say it costs 2,000 for the s/c (which more expensive ones can easily found) not including labor ... now you have at least a $25,500 car.... so now your taking a car that actually costs more, then modifying it and comparing it to a cheaper stock car... now THAT is an even more stupid comparo then the original... how is that comparison fair? it makes absolutely no sense to me Considering that I was only speaking about performance only, my statements still hold. If you bring price into it, then, yes, the tC is quite cheaper. BUT we still have to wait and see if the SC tC outperforms the N/A typeS. It doesn't really make a difference that the SC is going to be stock on the tC. If it doesn't outperform an N/A typeS, then it's not worth getting the SC tC, in my opinion. aznxthuggie 10-15-2004, 11:18 PM Considering that I was only speaking about performance only, my statements still hold. You probably can dump the extra $3k into suspension and roll bars to make the tC respond better. Out of all your choices I'd probably go with the tC. Honestly, I would have had a hard time deciding between the RSX and tC when it comes to style. Luckily the tC wasn't out yet. I like the way the tC looks and the glass roof. But I haven't test driven one so I can't attest to the performance difference. Saving $5-6k isn't bad thing either :) aznxthuggie 10-17-2004, 01:50 AM yea.. hm lets see i test drove one.. the first thing i noticed.. was the engine is rediculously smooth.. unlike the celica/corolla n some other cars.. i drove a 5spd and i was redlining first gear.. but there was barely any sound.. such a nice smooth engine with lots of torque, i was kinda concentrating on not getting it damaged in any way and there was a lil bit of traffic so i didnt really have time to check out the interior while driving.. but the 1st gear seems kinda short for a car like that.. or maybe i was just dozing off.. anyways i never drove a rsx but i've driven other hondas with kinda low torque compared to hp.. and the tc sees a bit quicker.. well just go test drive one they should have it at the toyota dealers kman10587 10-17-2004, 02:52 AM I drove it too, and yeah, the engine is really smooth and quiet. Gobs of low-end power compared to the Civic Si I had just driven. The tranny is geared more towards economy than performance, which makes sense, seeing as how it was lifted from the Camry. The interior is really nice, but the car itself is just a little too bland for my tastes. Still a great value though. mason_RsX 10-17-2004, 10:20 AM But we knew the tc was going to be value, its a Toyota. and I think we can generally assume the same thing as acura (except the EL which is only available in Canada me thinks)... it comes down to, is a bit better performance, style, and interior worth the extra money kman10587 10-17-2004, 12:29 PM No, I mean, the tC is REALLY a damn good value. The amount of standard upscale features for the price is mind-blowing...and it only costs 16.5K. I'm not sure if the Type S is worth the extra 6-7K since I haven't driven one, but I doubt it can beat the tC badly enough in luxury and comfort to justify the extra money. crazy_canuck 10-17-2004, 01:51 PM The tC is a better value but i'd still take the RSX for its better handling, better transmission, and it'll be a bit rarer. aznxthuggie - Out of your car list I think the tC is the best, the SE-R is junk, IMO, and the matrixes have space, but that's it. kman10587 10-17-2004, 01:58 PM The SE-R is a little outdated and the handling could use some work, as well as the transmission, but it's hardly junk... aznxthuggie 10-17-2004, 02:48 PM The tC is a better value but i'd still take the RSX for its better handling, better transmission, and it'll be a bit rarer. aznxthuggie - Out of your car list I think the tC is the best, the SE-R is junk, IMO, and the matrixes have space, but that's it. thx yea, the tc is still on the top of my list, i have time to decide tho =) vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
