when driving 70 - 80 mph, i can feel this wierd surge on and off like every 2 second its like a heavey vibaration, feels like its comming from the front and i can feel it in the steering wheel and gas pedal. only at that speed though. Any Ideas what could be wrong?

normally, speed related problems are either wheel balance related (bent rim, out of balance tire, etc..) or a bad hub bearing. If you have older tires, and haven't rotated them , it will cause uneven wear, which can cause cupping of the tread, and a vibration.

I have same problem as you - thought that it was a balancing issue, so i had tires balanced - no help. I found that my right-rear bearings were starting to go - have nbot had time to repair yet, but i think it will do the trick!

if that doesnt work and the car shakes it could also be that one of the rotors are warped i just had that problem
