Hasegawa has announced the VW Kubelwagen in their lineup, I don't think that car has ever made it to 1/24th yet? (release December)

Prolly it ll look great next to their jeep!

Another impressive release will be teh 2003 Ford Focus WRC, from the finland rally (release October)

I have this feeling we're being flood with superb releases and rereleases lately, my wallet will have a hard time following...

The Kubelwagen was done as a rather crude 1/24 kit by one of the Japanese manufacturers some number of years ago. I just saw a picture of one in the past week or so, it was pretty sad looking. :disappoin

The Hasegawa version should be quite nice...the Jeep is outstanding. :)

Great, ive been waiting for a 2003/4 Focus WRC. I was hoping Tamiya would make it, but i might settle for Hasegawa.

Hasegawa WRC kit... do you think they will carry PE part like the old WRC kit ?

labandabonnot
09-13-2004, 04:56 PM
Surely not! Good years are far away, now! There may be a set of additionnal PE, which would cost the price of the kit itself, just like it happened with the 037 and Stratos...
And I must say I'd be happy enough with that... Still so far better than nothing! :D

yea, anyway the hasegawa details for WRC kit are Tamiya like, or even better

bigfrit

agreed, and probably it 's only a matter of time before they release the other versions; tarmac and other special decals...

like hasegawa has done before, which is pretty good news too.

No way! I look forward to the Kubelwagen as well, though I have no idea how I'll actually build it... :screwy:

You can be sure it won't be a tuner or blinged...other than that, who knows? An R32-inspired Kubelwagen just doesn't sound kosher. Maybe just a simple box-stock build as if it were in it's civvy's. Or maybe raise the ride height a bit and outfit it like the twin-engine 2CV rally car...hmmmm....

I'd kill for a model of a VW Thing...the bratty kid cousin of Kubelwagen. Plus, that would be a fun one to add a bit more '70's era bling to it...even if it's only chrome rims and daisy decals.

Fantastic to have the Focus rumour confirmed. :D

I really hope Hasegawa include the Duval decals, the BP livery is far prettier that the Castrol one. Maybe they'll do it as a variant kit? Regarding PE maybe Hasegawa will do as they did with the 037 and Stratos - by having it available separately.

P.S. Hooray for Jay and his Kubelwagen!

No :evillol:

And my wife says I've too many kits in my attic. What will she say when I'll come back from the LHS with this kit under my arm.
A nice set of BRM wheels, droped, a 2.4l Flat4 engine, hmm... sounds cool :iceslolan

I totally agree, i would definately buy this kit if it had the BP decals included. Correct me if im wrong, but Martins Castrol sponsored car won the 2003 Finland rally, so it could be just the Castrol decals included.

The one on top isn't really called a Kubelwagen, it's a VW Type 181 which was indeed a new vehicle that replaced the Type 82 Kubelwagen. It was also known as The Thing when marketed in the US. It was called The Safari in Mexico, and the RHD version was called the Trekker.

Here's more history:
VW Thing/Type 181 Historical Information (http://www.geocities.com/vwtyp181/181_1-1.htm)

I'd love to have a kit of the Type 181 aka The Thing!

Nothing more to say after the explanation of ZoomZoom.
I'd like to have both versions in 1/24 too.

Here is how you can customise a Kubel (model from Guillaume Lefèvre aka MaquettedeCox (http://maquettedecox.free.fr/) )

It is wonderful after so much of a drought of new releases to have so many interesting kits to salivate over. I've already placed my order for the Subaru, the JGTC Z and the Focus. I feel young again.
