New CarLord_Vektra 02-10-2002, 12:03 AM been looking for a new car, I was first looking at a '88 Bmw 325es but that dident work out than I started looking at Hondas so far I have looked at a slightly moded Civic hatch which dident turn out to be as nice as I thought. Next week I am planning on looking at a '91 Honda Prelude Si I have 2 questions. What do you think about the Prelude idea even if it dont Have Vtec? and my main question What would be the best car, I would like a Honda or if possible Acura in a $5,000 price range? Thanks Si2000 Vtec 02-10-2002, 03:02 AM Get a 5th Gen (92-95) Civic Hatch. I'd personally go for a VX and swap the motor, but if you don't want to do a motor swap, look at Si Hatchbacks, they come with the 125hp SOHC VTEC (d16z6). sparq 02-10-2002, 03:42 AM Originally posted by Si2000 Vtec Get a 5th Gen (92-95) Civic Hatch. Muahaha, or the CX... it weighs the same and has a few options the VX didnt. Im enjoying my a/c, velour interior, rear speakers... I wish someone could actually confirm the options that were available for the car... everyone is trying to tell me that rear speakers werent an option ~ but yet thats funny because I have em  sub $5000 range? You should be able to pickup a hatch with a swapped motor for that... or depending on where you live you should be able to pickup a nice 5th gen civic hatch (1992-1995) for anywhere from $1800-$3000 depending on condition, trim level (vx, cx, dx, si etc) and then what you do with the rest of the money is upto you. Personally, if you get an SI I would just keep the motor and turbo it... if you get anything else, look for a B16, B18, CRV/VTEC swap or something of that nature. Unless you want your car to only preform in a straight line... then go for the grand daddy of Honda motors the H22 (Honda Prelude motor) And hopefully we will be welcoming you when you make your purchase! 90CRXZCSi 02-10-2002, 04:46 AM You could always get the prelude and do what would be LS/VTEC but just with a different motor. I believe the prelude stock is a 135HP DOHC NON VTEC (B20A5) and you could just throw on a H22 head and it would haul pretty good also.:D sparq 02-10-2002, 04:50 AM Originally posted by 90CRXZCSi stock is a 135HP DOHC NON VTEC (B20A5) and you could just throw on a H22 head and it would haul pretty good also.:D Uhhh huhhhuuhhhhh... watch your fingers dude, a B20A5? :p :frog: :silly2: Lord_Vektra 02-10-2002, 09:27 AM The Hatch I was looking at was a CX with a Swaped D16Z6 out of a '96 Del Sol and I had to drive 4 hours to see it. Here in Alabama its hard to come across a good Swaped Civic most of them are for looks. I will probably have to do the work myself. Lord_Vektra 02-10-2002, 09:31 AM and I think its a B20A1 but im not certain vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
