VTEC Problem

I just installed a VTEC indicator and I realized that my VTEC kicks in at 3,000 RPM. Isn't this way too early for VTEC to kick in? Any ideas on what could be wrong? By the way, I installed the VTEC indicator to the solenoid. Thanks for any help.

Sorry about that. I have a 1997 Honda Accord EX Coupe. 2.2L I4 SOHC. Think that's about it. So far, I've only installed a Cold Air Intake.

Nope. The VTEC indicator is really easy to install. Doesn't take very long.
