epoxy? on paint83XFIRE 09-07-2004, 06:50 PM Hey, I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this, but I was de-emblefying my truck the other day and at the tail gate, I found something very interesting. The emblems wouldn't come off right for the "chevrolet" part. Upon closer inspection, the tailgate was re-painted and it appears the chevy emblem was epoxied on. Is there any way to get this off without repainting the tailgate? If I have to re-paint, I'm just gonna get a new one cuz its starting to rust slightly on the inside crease, but I don't wanna if I don't have to. OverBoardProject 09-08-2004, 12:05 AM Some bodymen say that they can sand that sort of thing out without damaging the paint underneath. Although the only person whom tried it had to get the part re-painted anyways. Good Luck movin2stereo 09-08-2004, 06:24 AM Sory but I don't see it possible. chevelle2fast4u 09-09-2004, 08:00 PM the easiest way to get it off is a heat gun and a putty knife...get some 3812 cleaner or laquer thinner used for autobodys. and clean the remaining gunk off. it eats right threw it. trust me this will work. i work in an autobody shop and have done it numerous times. and it DOES NOT damage the paint or metal. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
