Progress:'32 Ford (Rat)ol' dude 09-06-2004, 07:01 PM Well I am at a stoping point w/ the Saleen! When I get my paint, I will finish it. So today I was looking through the new issue of Ol' skool rodz and had a brainstorm!!! I will be using the Revell '32 Ford Highboy street rod kit for the body and frame. The Revell '32 Ford Amigo pack will donate the front axle, the rear end and the steelies in the pics. Everything else will come from where ever! Thats what a rat is all about!! No color yet, primer, rust, puke yellow, crap green, I have not decided!! Here are some pics!!! http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/15830732_Rat_1.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/15830732_Rat_2.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/15830732_Rat_3.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/15830732_Rat_4.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/15830732_Rat_5.JPG Feedback/comments are welcome!! The truck in my sig is '38 Ford, the only thing close is a '37 Ford. Yeah that truck is bad azz!!!!!! Maybe if I run across another '37, I'll build it!! ol' dude 09-07-2004, 08:49 PM This looks to be a promising Rat Rod.. I can't wait to see how many kits you end up stealing parts from.. :) What are you talking about Matt? I already have 3 kits tied up in this one so far!! That's what makes it a rat- all sorts of cars in one!! I still have to locate an engine. Thanks for the comments guys, I got a rat to build!!!!!!!!!!! GTmike400 09-07-2004, 09:04 PM The truck in my sig is '38 Ford, the only thing close is a '37 Ford. Yeah that truck is bad azz!!!!!! Maybe if I run across another '37, I'll build it!! Its a very odd '38. Anyway, I'm also looking for another '37 or two. If I run across one I might be able to bring it to an ACME meeting. KustmAce 09-07-2004, 11:51 PM Pretty danged cool!!:sunglasse Throw a 392 Hemi in it!! No way, needs a Flathead V8. And its gonna be flat black right? ol' dude 09-08-2004, 09:48 AM No way, needs a Flathead V8. I done one in flat black already, maybe a rusted out silver or flat yellow/green!! deedlit 09-08-2004, 12:00 PM Nice project  Can't wait for more:) Just a question, the white walls tires, do they come from the Ford amigo pack? I know anybody else asked it but I haven't seen any answer. Maybe am I blind  I'm interested in white walls tires aswell, I've a project (far in my backhead) of a beetle, without fenders, top choped, split bus roof (shortened), ... I'm in a kind of a hot rod mood for the moment :evillol: Do you know Blitzkrieg Racing (http://old-volks-home.com/) ?? ol' dude 09-08-2004, 03:59 PM The tires are from the Revell '29 ford rat-rod kit!! JTRACING 09-08-2004, 11:02 PM gonna be a killer ride!!! ol' dude 09-10-2004, 04:18 PM Made some progress today!! I got the rust primer on, the doors opened, and some rust-through spots! I am thinking a green color w/ no suicide doors! I will use some baking soda and rubber cement to let the rust show through. Here's what I got so far!! http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/15830732_rat_6.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/15830732_Rat_7.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/15830732_Rat_8.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/15830732_Rat_9.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/15830732_Rat_10.JPG Thanks, Dennis (FEEDBACK WELCOME) GTmike400 09-10-2004, 04:48 PM Hey Dennis, how did you do the rust it looks great! ol' dude 09-10-2004, 07:30 PM Mike, I took a round headed bit and the dremel, and ate at the plastic from the backsibe. Once the plastic was thin enough, I took my knife and cut away!! I will take some rubber cement and cover the hole, paint it, then pull the rubber cement off, and the rust color will show through!! CADguy 09-10-2004, 10:09 PM Great work. Getting the paint looking old and rusty is art you've mastered ol' dude. I always look forward to your ratty rod builds. ol' dude 09-12-2004, 11:29 AM Well I got the body about where I want! I still have to put my rust washes on it, but I will do that more toward the end of the build! I started the hinges for the doors, will get those on soon, then install the motor!! Heres what i got- http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/15830732_Rat_11.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/15830732_Rat_12.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/15830732_Rat_13.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/15830732_Rat_14.JPG Thanks, Dennis GTmike400 09-12-2004, 11:58 AM Your weathering works are always amazing! mach1_2003 09-12-2004, 12:15 PM amazingly realistic.... fantastic work!!! willimo 09-12-2004, 12:35 PM Looks great. Is it ratty enough yet?? http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/15830732_Rat_15.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/15830732_Rat_16.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/15830732_Rat_17.JPG Thanks for looking, Dennis (Ol' Dude) GTmike400 09-12-2004, 08:12 PM Hey Dennis, what about the bike tire look? 76 maverick 09-12-2004, 08:19 PM  . ol' dude 09-12-2004, 08:35 PM Hey Dennis, what about the bike tire look? Maybe a little overkill, but it's a chevy!! Chassis is done, the hinges are on hold, engine needs wiring and paint. The interior is still in the air!! http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/15830732_Rat_18.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/15830732_Rat_19.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/15830732_Rat_20.JPG Thanks for looking!! Dennis mach1_2003 09-14-2004, 10:35 PM Cool looking.... I like the engine, the tunnel ram intake and single carb are perfect for this project. 86_SR5 09-15-2004, 12:32 PM I don't see a tunnel ram manifold.... im confused. The engine, perfect choice! The carb and velocity stack go great with the era of the car. Honoturtle 09-15-2004, 12:50 PM Great progress! I got a 32' Ford sitting around here, maybe I should attempt something like this. Thanks for all the comments guys!! GT-Alex 09-19-2004, 03:02 PM Very well done so far, although beeing an european i don't see the interest of owning a rusted car. 86_SR5 09-19-2004, 03:20 PM It's a hotrod, that's how most of them start out. However, alot of them are restored. GT-Alex 09-19-2004, 03:29 PM Ok, i though it was a kind of tendence, like "hey look, i have the worst looking car of the meeting !" ol' dude 09-19-2004, 03:39 PM Ok, i though it was a kind of tendence, like "hey look, i have the worst looking car of the meeting !" Some still in California live as though they are stuck in the 50's. Go to rat-rods in your search engine or even Ol' Skool Rodz.com. But if this was a real car, I would still drive it!! Thanks for the comments. No more pics until it is done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ol' dude 09-20-2004, 02:53 PM So I lied, here are a few progress pics! No, I have no idea when it will be done! You`r gonna need some long legs to reach the clutch gas and brake ? willimo 09-20-2004, 03:14 PM Man that's one butt bruisin' little car there. Hot, though. Perhaps leave the doors white like that? Aren't these cars in progress, so maybe he got a deal on some mint doors? That may make it too busy, though. I just kinda liked the look. Is it me or do the front tires sit funny on those wires? Great freakin' build, nonetheless. Just fantastic. ol' dude 09-20-2004, 03:57 PM Man that's one butt bruisin' little car there. The doors are primered, just like you said, maybe he got a deal on them, or just maybe that is as far as he got to getting something restored. Yeah there is no suspension on this car whatsoever!! The front tires and the wire wheels are from the '34 Ford Lindberg truck kit, they have a lip around the edge. After looking at the box art and a few rat-rods, they seem to fit that way!! Thanks willimo for the comments and hope to see you at the Atlanta show!!!!!!!! GTmike400 09-20-2004, 04:25 PM Looking good! That die just cracked me up. Pretty cool though! GvEman 09-20-2004, 05:19 PM awesome! keep it up man! bigfrit 09-21-2004, 05:28 PM I ve never seen anything like this untill I searched the subject on the internet, which tells me you're not the only nut out there liking it... curiously it 's starting to grow on me :-) Nice progress, man!
