My son just bought a 97 Ford Taurus. I was going to change the oil and filter as I usually do all our cars myself. I cannot see an external filter, a hatch where one might be or a cover for an internal filter. I have not jacked up the car yet to really get underneath and do a thorough check. I thought if anyone knows right where I could start looking I would ask first.

From the topside look on the front of the engine. It can be serviced from topside.

the duratec engine must be changed from below, the duratec's filter is on the back right by the subframe.
