Progress: '98 Saleen Mustangol' dude 09-05-2004, 01:28 PM Well here is some progress pics of the Saleen Speedster I started this past friday. The kit is Revell, not a bad kit with minimal clean-up!! The color will be a Cobalt blue with black int. The kit will mainly be built box stock. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/158307Must_bod_1.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/158307Must_bod_2.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/158307Must_bod_3.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/158307Must_bod_4.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/158307Engine1-med.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/158307Engine2-med.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/158307Chassis_1-med.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/158307Chassis_2-med.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/158307bod_chas_1.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/158307bod_chas_2-med.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/158307bod_chas_3.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/158307bod_chas_4.JPG It looks as though the body sits over the motor in the pics, maybe once the interior is installed, the body will sit correct. If not, maybe some sort of cowl-induction style hood!! Feedback welcome! Thanks, Dennis!!!!!!!!! Veyron 09-05-2004, 01:33 PM Looks like a great start there, Sturgis Man! SkylineMan32 09-05-2004, 01:35 PM I have been eyeing that kit all this year but with 16 kits in progress I'll probably get it next week! LOL! Looks good. On blue either do smoke or clear tailings with some chome on the bezel. tonioseven 09-05-2004, 03:31 PM Looking pretty cool!!:sunglasse ZoomZoomMX-5 09-05-2004, 03:48 PM Cool! :sunglasse Sounds like a good color combo. Modeler's ADD strikes again...this reminds me I have a resin coupe conversion for this model, and I really should get it done for the ACME show... So many models, so little time! mach1_2003 09-05-2004, 05:02 PM Hey Dennis, Great job so far.... having built this kit my experience is that the engine being too high is, like you said, because the interior tub is not in. Once in and everything is together I thought my build up sit a little too high over the wheels. Even though mine is complete I'm still considering lowering it. ZoomZoom that would be a nice addition for the ACME show.... I may bring mine too. ZoomZoomMX-5 09-05-2004, 05:15 PM having built this kit my experience is that the engine being too high is, like you said, because the interior tub is not in. Once in and everything is together I thought my build up sit a little too high over the wheels. Even though mine is complete I'm still considering lowering it. Can't wait to see it! My resin coupe body is by Scale Coachworks, seems to be rather hard to find, I got it at a show in Toledo. Many Revell modern muscle cars like the Mustangs and Trans Ams/Camaros all seem to ride too high, they all need a good lowering job to look right. rx7king 09-05-2004, 08:37 PM wow, that will look sweet painted CADguy 09-05-2004, 09:52 PM You've been busy this weekend. Can't wait to see this one in color. ol' dude 09-06-2004, 10:32 AM Being that I have already assembled the chassis, I think I will leave it for now. Will have the interior done today and post pics soon! My paint is coming through the dealership that I work at, so hopefully it will be there Tuesday!! Thanks for the comments!!!!! mach1_2003 09-06-2004, 10:45 AM It's going to look good in the color you've chosen. The chassis doesn't sit all that high. It has a better stance than a lot of kits.... Lookinf forward to seeing it painted. ol' dude 09-06-2004, 10:51 AM It's going to look good in the color you've chosen. The chassis doesn't sit all that high. It has a better stance than a lot of kits.... Lookinf forward to seeing it painted. Well Eric, now that you have said that, I will not woory about the ride height!! I was just in my room looking at the cassis to see what could be done!!!!!!!!!! THANKS!! mach1_2003 09-06-2004, 12:04 PM Here's a link to my build up.... it might help you decide. http://www.xpphotoalbum.com/showphoto.php?photo=22680&size=big&password=&sort=1&cat=3705 ol' dude 09-06-2004, 12:07 PM Thats not lowered yet is it? Is that the stock ride height? I was thinking of maybe taking the motor out? I do not know yet!!!!!!!!!!! 73superduty 09-06-2004, 12:29 PM I look forward to your build. I've got one waiting in line. ALthough mine will be white with black stripes and built mainly from the box. Looking good! Please let me know of any discrepancies you find with your build. Chris mach1_2003 09-06-2004, 01:09 PM No it hasn't been lowered yet.... but I think it will be soon... instead of taking the engine out you might be able to adjust where the wheels mount to the chassis, thus droping the whole car instead of just droping the body. Jumpman_Z 09-06-2004, 02:59 PM Cool project, I have this model as well. I was thinking about starting on it, but decided to build a Supra model instead. Keep us up to date! GTmike400 09-06-2004, 03:07 PM Looks good Dennis, even though I hate 'Stangs. ol' dude 09-08-2004, 04:15 PM Well, I got some paint on it yesterday!! I am not pleased with the color, It is a little too dark for what I was looking for!! It does not resemble Cobalt Blue at all IMHO!! Let me know what you think?!? http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/158307Must_bod_5-med.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/158307Must_bod_6.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/158307Must_bod_7.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/158307Must_bod_9.JPG Thanks, Dennis!! AstroRide44 09-08-2004, 05:22 PM see my biggest problem with this kit when i built it was that the side skirts are a lot lower thank the front bumper and rear bumper. so even when the car is really lowered it still looks high from dead on. kinda goofy looking, so u have to give it an agressive racked stance. CADguy 09-08-2004, 07:17 PM I like it.. That is a bit dark for cobalt blue, but it looks nice. IImportSupra 09-08-2004, 07:27 PM Nice Paint. CamaroSSBoy346 09-08-2004, 09:04 PM i dont think your hood is fitting correctly.. but the engine does look nice. mach1_2003 09-08-2004, 09:22 PM I like the blue. A little dark for what you wanted but it'll still look really good with the black interior. ol' dude 09-08-2004, 09:37 PM i dont think your hood is fitting correctly.. but the engine does look nice. Why are you nick picking a progress thread? This is in it's build-up stage!! The hood fits fine, thank you!! Macdaddy4738 09-08-2004, 09:45 PM now you need the white racing stipes man! :smokin: awesome project...looks great ZoomZoomMX-5 09-08-2004, 09:56 PM Betcha that color is what you expected if you take it outside on a sunny day! No matter, the color suits the car well! :sunglasse And it's still all your fault that I've got this Saleen coupe on my desk... :icon16: weaponCIVIC 09-08-2004, 10:18 PM looks awsome ol' dude 09-09-2004, 06:24 PM Here are some pics I took outside this morning!! Still do not like the color!! I will finish it, put it on the shelf and be done!! http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/158307DSCF0601.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/158307DSCF0602.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/158307DSCF0606.JPG Thanks, Dennis!!
