Volkswagen Golfpettercardoso 09-04-2004, 11:33 AM A friend of mine asked me to build him a replica of his first (and actual) car, the VW Golf IV. It's the petrol engined 1.4. Very basic, very simple. So I sourced a Tamiya Golf V5 from eBay, which costed a small fortune.. I started by modifying the dash, by removing the GPS screen and adding the radio and the small storage space above it. Still has to be painted and finished. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v345/pettercardoso/Golf/dash.jpg On to the body. Removed the V5 mounting spot on the front grille and prep'd as usual. Painted TS-40 Metallic Black with 2 coats of TS-13 Clear. Polished, but not waxed yet (have to say it's my best paintjob so far..eheheh). Apart from the windows wipers and antenna, the body is finished. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v345/pettercardoso/Golf/tresquartosfrente.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v345/pettercardoso/Golf/lateralesquerda.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v345/pettercardoso/Golf/tresquartostraseira.jpg And this picture is just to show off the mirror-like shine :naughty: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v345/pettercardoso/Golf/reflexo.jpg geofroley 09-04-2004, 11:54 AM Looking very good! Only one little remark is that you could clean up the smudges left by the clear glue around the rear lights with just some water on a cotton cloth... Otherwise, you should be very happy with the result ! Pedro. ol' dude 09-05-2004, 03:31 PM Hey Pedro, that paint is stunning, I mean it is awesome! Can't wait to see it finished!!!!!!!!! mike united 09-05-2004, 11:57 PM Stunning paint job ! Mike :smokin: pettercardoso 09-06-2004, 12:53 PM Ok, here I am with another update. The chassis is almost finished. Quite basic assembly and painting. Just threw it all together, a quit spray of X18 and voilá. The exhaust was modified to a single outlet and painted XF16, as was the engine (covered by that protection plate). All that is missing are the brake discs. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v345/pettercardoso/Golf/chassis.jpg I'm waiting for the interior and front seats to dry before I mask it up and spray the other tone of grey, as per the instructions. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v345/pettercardoso/Golf/interior.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v345/pettercardoso/Golf/assentosdianteiros.jpg And finally, I finished all the bits and pieces. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v345/pettercardoso/Golf/bitsandpieces.jpg All that is left to do is finish modifying the wheels, print a radio decal and glue it all together. Maybe by wednesday I'll be able to make a completed thread :) Thanks for looking.
