I love rx7's man. This car is unbelievable. Just tuned it up today with ngk spark plugs, 20-50 racing oil, and flushed the coolant.

I have a couple of questions though. I noticed that all four plugs that I took of were leading plugs. You think that was an accident or is that some way of creating bigger spark? I think the guy knew how to work on rx7s well so I dont know. Also It idles rough, and when it is cold it will hit 3g when started but then it will stall. I have to keep it at 2g for like 10 sec then it will catch but could stall then. The idle speed is correct so I think that he mest with the timing but that might be giving it some better top end because damn it is fast. And that straight pipe is so loud :evillol: . What do you guys think.

Oh I forgot to mention. When its cold it backfires so I dont now if that has anything to do with the rough idle.

rotaries all backfire, rev it way up and let off and you'll get a nice backfire

the 3k revving on startup is normal. Also when warming up you will hear belches; sound like "bup-bups". As for it sometimes stalling out I think you should check compression or for some vacuum leaks.

leading and trailing are different plugs all together. i hope you enjoy your new car!

Thanks guys. The mods that are on it are a straight pipe exhaust ( no cats), magna flow dual cannon mufflers, Boost gauge under the cd player, and I think an act street clutch. And he also sent with it a racing chip ( no rev limit). It has some intake im not sure what brand but its got a cone filter, and it has a little cone air breather but dont know for what. And thats all on a new engine.

Anybody have a cat lying around that could pass smog in California?

I dont know but thats why I thought maybe it was a little trick to get better spark. What is the difference between leading and trailing spark plugs?
