NewbieSloR33 02-08-2002, 07:20 AM First time here  I need to know , what mods do I need to get an R33 GTR into the 11s , say high 11sec 1/4 ? At the moment car is stock . Where do I start , how much $ is needed ? How much HP do I need to do it ? Have heard of a Nizmo kit ? tonyxc 02-08-2002, 04:24 PM Hi mate, Depending on how much you can spend: (all in Aust. dollars) 1. Upgraded turbos - GT2530's ($5,000) 2. Full exhaust system incl. front pipes - trust, hks, mines ($2,500) 3. air filter - trust, hks ($700) 4. change of ecu - power fc, mines ($2,000) 5. intercooler - trust, hks ($2500) 6. oil cooler ($1200) 7. bigger brakes - just in case you wanna stop !!!!! ($5,000) 8. clutch - prob. looking at twin plate ($3,000) Probably for reliablity purposes, you might also want to do some minor engine changes - cams, pistons, head gaskets, so looking at another $8,000 - $10,000 But you can do it the easy why, boost the crap out the turbos and destroy one of the best engines in the world. So do some research before you do anything. I've done minor mods to my car and very happy with it. About 400hp and the car prob does around high 12's with standard turbos at 1bar. Good luck mate Gonthrax 02-08-2002, 04:46 PM I'd probly stickwith the stock turbos. Somthing like Full exhaust, Pod filters, Boost controler, 500cc injecters, new fuel pump, either new ECU or just reset your current one. Then put in clutch, cams, 500 degree certefied brakes like the Bremos that are on the V-specs. That would be a good start, if you are running alot of boosts you may want to consider a few engine enternals, pistons and the like. I'd say the whole thing could be done for 15-17k NZD. I may be off on the price figure so don't shoot me if I am :D MoJoRaCeR 02-08-2002, 04:47 PM all i can say is a lot of money and a lot of time and hard work is what you need, start with the small stuff then work up to the big stuff. like you exhaust and intake, then maybe a header and intercooler, intake manifold, etc. probably looking at $3000.00 american money. then go to the turbos and nitrous Gonthrax 02-08-2002, 04:49 PM Originally posted by SloR33 Have heard of a Nizmo kit ? Oh, BTW, its Nismo. Nissan's motersports devision. Unless we are talking about somthing different, in which case I have just put my foot in my mouth. Gtr2.7L 02-08-2002, 08:50 PM You don't need Nitrous in a GTR. You're better off doing it o'natural... All add in my opinions here as well..... 500 at the wheels will almost definately require new turbines. You can get 500 crank with the stocks....Jun got 529....but that's pretty close to maxing out on those turbines... 500 at the wheels.....(at least) in USD (and this is off the top of my head so I could be off by three or four hundred) HKS GT2530's (if you're willing to wait for delivery) 2500 Tomei HeadGasket (1.5)mm 360 Tomei Camshaft Kit (256/256), Springs, adj Cam Pulleys 1200 Trust/Greddy VVC (boost controller) 120 Sard 720cc Injectors 700 NISMO Fuel Pump 120 Boost gauge (stock one is crap) 80 HKS Full exhaust (Front pipes, straight pipe, exhaust 90pi) 900 HKS Super Power Flow Intakes 240 Tomei Fuel regulator 80 Greddy Catch tank 80 Greddy/Trust oil cooler and remote filter kit 800 Nissan Computer Tune 500 PVS Brake pads (0-1000 deg C) and Steel lines 600 HKS Hyper Damper Suspension 1400 Tires (Falken 255/17R40) 900 So here you go....a race ready car with 500HP for an added $10,580 Oops....forgot the clutch:) That's another 1400 (OS Giken Twin plate 800HP) That pays for a reliable, street driveable, auto cross ready/quarter mileable car in the high tens for your enjoyment. That's if you do the work yourself.... Don't believe the hype about intercoolers, radiators, or brake calipers....all are great for track use up to the magic 750HP mark....then you'll want to reconsider. High elevens is actually relatively easy....340HP to the wheels using intake/exhaust, boost controller, and computer tune. Leave everything else stock and learn how to drive. That's what....1800 bucks.... Above about 400 it gets hard to do without changing the Camshafts and that's about when you start getting a lot of stress on a lot of parts. RazorGTR 02-08-2002, 09:08 PM SloR33 we have a guy in our club who got his R33 GTR into the 11's quite easily without spending a heap. High flowed his factory turbos - $2,000 Big bore exhausts - $1,300 Trust Pod filters - $400 1.1 bar of boost :) $3,700 spent (NZD) and best time was 11.88 @ 118mph There is also another guy with an R32 that has hit the 11's with factory turbos. Only a chipped ecu and Trust front mounted I/C Gonthrax 02-09-2002, 09:03 PM Originally posted by Razorgtst SloR33 we have a guy in our club who got his R33 GTR into the 11's quite easily without spending a heap.
