transmission

yo wat up AF ppl well those any one know where i can get a sr20det 5 speed transmission since i am planning to do the auto 2 manual swap so if some one can give me a little help plz.

Best place is Ebay, dont know if many engine suppliers just stock trannies. I know a lot of people on this board dont like ebay, but I built my car on ebay, still running after 10k miles.

yea i was reading that some guy did the auto 2 manual 2 his ka24de with a sr20det tranny so since i cant seem 2 find a 5 speed tranny from a s14 i want 2 do that i dont really know about ebay some items i would but nothing that is expecive

i dont remember where i heard this before but when i was a n00b i heard this on af:

"ka engines and sr trannies are like pickles and chocolate, not something you wanna put together"

that always stuck in my mind

yeah the gear ratios are different. And on top of that your still going to need a KA24de transmission to swap the bellhousing with. The Sr transmission doesn't bolt up to the KA engine, you need to change over the front half of the case to use the KA one, basically your goign to tear down the transmission and reassemble it with the KA front half block.

so just buy a KA24de transmission, they are all over the place..call a junkyard FFS

oh wat dang cause i was plannin that but now its like dang i tried my local junkyard and they dont have 95-98 240sx only ones i found were from 93 and down

Why wouldn't any transmission after 91 work?

i was thinking of putting a s13 tranny into my s14 but i hear its something different. but i dont remember why.

all DOHC KA transmissions are the same to my knowledge

so would it be possible 2 stick a s13 5 speed tranny into my s14?

I'm pretty sure thats what we're trying to say. Theoretically it should work. Check on a few other forums, but I don't see why they shouldn't.

yea cause i read in another one that it is possible since they are both ka24de and sr20detpower says it 2

but will it be better to wait for a s14 tranny or would it be the same?? thats wat i wanna know.

I sold my S13 KA24de tranny to an S14 dude. He never e-mailed me bitching that it didnt fit, so take that for what its worth.
