I was on the freeway the other night and my Cherokee started to lurch and shake. I then lost power and it wouldn't start for a few minutes. I had to have it towed home and now it will only run for a 30 seconds to a minute before it dies again. After sitting for a few minutes it will start again but then dies shortly after.

You'll need to determine if it's an ignition or fuel problem.

How comfortable are you with troubleshooting?

I'm pretty sure that I've got spark. I just had the CPS replaced because it wouldn't start. It ran fine for about a week then this happened. Before I had the CPS replaced I checked the coil and replaced the distributor and rotor.

I was thinking about replacing the fuel filter. Some one suggested that it might be the fuel pump resistor so I am also considering that angle. The only problem I have is that I'm not sure where the fuel pump resistor is located.

The ballast resistor is located on the inside of the fender well next to the air cleaner assembly. It's a block of white-ish ceramic with 2 wires (one at each end).
