All,

I just had new brake rotors installed on the front wheels of my 93 (with ABS). Now when I hit the brakes, the pedal is quite spongy and will go to the floor putting only minimal pressure to the wheels. I bled the lines to each of the front wheels, but didn't find any air. Any suggestions?

Have you checked the fluid level? Also, when you bleed your brakes, you're supposed to bleed all four wheels.

Thanks for the feedback. Fluid level is good. I only bled the front because the rear brakes weren't touched and the shop manual I have said it wasn't necessary. (Does having ABS change that?)

Any chance that gunk in the old fluid was holding the seal in the master cylinder and now that the gunk is gone, so is the seal?

Bleed all your brakes - Therein lies your problem.

That's exactly what I was stating. When you bleed the brakes, you need to bleed all four in order to get all the air completely out of the system.

Just backing up your opinion.

I know...I was just trying to emphasize that they need to bleed all four. :) I always appreciate it when someone else with experience will back me up, or vice versa. :)

Well, a day has gone by and the problem is gone. I hadn't yet gone back to bleed all four brakes. I'm thinking something in the system was off after the rotor replacement and it has worked itself out.

Keeping an eye on the fluid level and driving slow for a while just to be sure : )
