Automatic Transmition Question

I've got 99 grand am v6 automatic.
I took it in for an oil change last week and I asked the mechanic to do a transmition oil change, once the car is over 115Km and I've never done it.
He told me that it's not needed, because the factory oil is a syntetic oil and doesn't need service done unless there is a problem with it.
Anyone who has some sort of knowledge about this, please let me know if this is true or is BS.
Thanks

Do it. My manual for my 2003 GA says to do it every 50,000 miles. Its worth spending some money to make sure that your car will last as long as possible.
