Hi,
It's still in progress. painted Finisher's Rich Red/Pure Black. already clear coated, waiting for polish.

More red magic from kunta. The detail of removing the rear center caps just takes this car to the top. Fantastic so far.

Finished this one.
maybe it looks very simple style for young tuner car fans.
late 80's in Japan. street racers called 'Hashiriya' around me, they didn't pay attention to exterior modify.
perhaps they didn't have much money for that. :p
They(including me) just changed wheels, tires, mufflers etc. and when they got extra money they tuned inspiration or suspension things.
anyway, this model is hommage for them.

Nice job as always (hate to repeat but that is the fact), one thing thou, shouldn't those water nosels (for wipers) be black?

KUNTA-san, I wanna say it's another beautiful one done there!!!
TOP WORK!!

BTW, will you consider making the fastback version of the AE86, like the Initial D AE86, to pair with your red one here?

I look forward to see more of your good work!! :)

What are "rear center caps"

Kunta, excellent black trim and kudos for keeping it simple...!

If you look at the center (surrounded by the lug nuts) of the front rims, they have a cap or cover in the very center. If you look at the rears they are missing. Excellent job on this subtle yet very cool detail Kunta! Its the little details that set this apart, besides the fact that it is flawless. Thanks for pointing it out willimo, almost missed it.

RS-Watanabes from Fujimi? They never had a molded center cap for the rear wheels!

Thank you. S13 is one of my favorite Japanese cars and I'm planning to build it with S14 this year or next year.

Allow to me to speak for Kunta.
The 14" Watanabes don't have a center cap for the rear(drive) wheels, hence there's nothing to cut off.
It's just a flat recessed slot, which can be detailed with paint.

Perfect as always. The paint job is better than Toyota factory.

Was this one of your dream car back in the old day as a young racer?

AE86 was very popular and reasonable car for young racers. some of my friends drove it as just like this model.
I was dreaming R32 GT-R, Supra 2.5GT twin turbo or some kind of Porsche when that time. :)
I still remember that R32 GT-R debut was very very sensational for all of us.

Not to argue, but here are my two sets of Fujimi Watanabes (metal on the left, plastic on the right):

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v417/willimo/Watanabe.jpg

I am sure you can see where I was coming from.

But anyway, that's a great model kunta. A lot of people do apreciate pure performance modded cars - they don't have to be gaudy to be hot! These late 80's racers sound a lot like some guys I know these days (me included).... It's just fantastic... I adore simple mods on fast cars, especially when they come out as clean as all that. Thanks for sharing!
