Program keyless remote for '97 Camrybeadgirl 08-28-2004, 09:47 PM Anybody know how to program a keyless remote for a '97 Camry equipped with VPS? I bought the car used, and the previous owner did not have the remote. I checked with the local dealer & verified that the car was equipped for keyless entry, but the remote itself was over $100 & then the shop was going to charge another $50 to program it! Found a Toyota remote (original 2 button) on eBay, but the seller did not provide me with instructions on programming. I searched the archieves, & found a few references to this type of keyless remote, but no real details. Can someone please help me? yotatechie04 08-29-2004, 06:17 PM Do you know what system it's equipped with? The gen 4's are most commonly equipped with the RS3000 system, but I've seen some with different ones. If you're sure that you have the RS3000 system installed, there are instructions here : http://www.4runners.org/articles/rs3000/ If it's not the RS3000 system, you should find out what system it is if you don't already know and search for programming instructions online. camry03 09-30-2004, 08:44 AM try geocities.com/toyota for instructions bmcb 09-30-2004, 10:13 PM First off, what is VPS? And secondly, how do you find out what system you have. yotatechie04 09-30-2004, 11:12 PM VPS is a Vehicle Protection System...and there are only two ways you can determine what kind of system is installed in your car, either through the documentation that came with the car, or you can pry down the dimmer switch panel and pull out the brain box of the system and it will say what model it is. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2010, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
