:Progress: 00' Honda Civic Hatchback by RevellImolaEK 08-28-2004, 08:27 PM Well here is some progress pictures of my Civic Hatchback. I put some SMS Carbon fiber on the rear top deck wing. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/73957DSC08132.JPG I customized the Custom bumper provided into a Civic Type R rear lip http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/73957DSC08129.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/73957DSC08130.JPG The color is by Dupli Color called Driftwood Metallic http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/73957DSC08133.JPG I put some SMS Carbon Fiber on the hood as well but when i clear coated it, it got some weird spots on it. The camera wont pick it up but my eyes do and it is not so pleasing so i might paint the hood. This is the third time this has happend to me with the same decal and the same clear coat (Tamiya) by now im thinking it might be the humidity outside but then again the rear top deck wing came out perfect. Something weird. I did a couple of mist coats and there it was these huge stains. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/73957DSC08131.JPG Comments please! supratuner 08-28-2004, 08:28 PM looking good so far, im working on one of these as well and its nice to see some one else working on one rx7king 08-28-2004, 08:34 PM ^yeh i also like seeing other peoples progress on the same car your currently working on, anyways nice start so far tonioseven 08-28-2004, 08:41 PM Excellent work so far!! Just a tip: SMS Carbon fiber doesn't react too well with Tamiya clear sometimes. Oh, Joey I am also working on a Veilside Civic hatchback as well!!:) ImolaEK 08-28-2004, 08:48 PM Yo this is great guys. I think im going to strip the hood and paint it the same color as the body. The wheels will be some Spoon SW-388's :smokin: willimo 08-28-2004, 10:00 PM That's gonna be sweet. Just a note, though, the Revell Civics are a weird cross between the 96-98 and 99-00 versions. The front bumpers with the fog lamps are more like the 99-00, but the headlights, hood and grill make it a 96-98. Just one of the handful of the errors Revell made, just thought I'd point it out since you're trying to build a specific year. I also have trouble with SMS decals and Tamiya clear. I think I am going to switch to Testors clear for these parts now, as I am tired of trying to strip the decal which is insanely difficult. I keep having Gunze clear suggested to me, but with my airbrush troubles of late, screw it. This is going to be beautiful, I love the color and I am a huge fan of Spoon rims. Hooray for you! Thanks Willimo and Hooray for Revell and Honda for making these cars! HONDA!!! I still dont own an Airbrush  So i have to deal with the rattle cans. I used Testors clear coat once or twice and it seemed a little to thick, maybe its just me spraying too much  Thanks for the comments! ImolaEK 08-29-2004, 09:46 PM I have polished the top deck wing. But, the body is still under painting, i have failed twice already when wetsanding. I keep on sanding through the paint. :banghead: The panel lines are getting filled with paint! its a matter of layers of more clear coat until all the lines will be filled :banghead: I don't want to strip it because i dont have anything to strip it with! and im running out of paint! Everything else is going smooth, the bumpers have been painted and clear coated but still need polishing. I will try to get some pictures of any important progress. ImolaEK 08-29-2004, 10:02 PM Here is some pictures http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/73957DSC08136.JPG Its soo humid that the clear coat doesn't even get any gloss at all. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/73957DSC08137.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/73957DSC08138.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/73957DSC08139.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/73957DSC08140.JPG SchuberT 08-29-2004, 10:07 PM Wow, sorry to hear about the clear/humidity. I'm suprised this build isn't getting many replies with the view count so high. Looks good to me, though, can't wait to see more. MidMazar 08-29-2004, 10:12 PM the civic is turning out good, any plans on interior and engine? ImolaEK 08-29-2004, 10:19 PM the civic is turning out good, any plans on interior and engine? Engine will be a Red Top B16 with Carbon Fiber Spark Plug Cover. Interior will be black with Red carpet and Red highlights on the door's just like the CTR. I will hopefully receive the rims in the mail this week. :evillol: ImolaEK 08-30-2004, 08:51 PM Well guys i stayed up until 3 am last night polishing the Civic and it was all success. I was suprised to see that the panel lines still hold paint in them so i could give it good detail. I will have some pictures for you guys tonight! :iceslolan That is ofcourse unless my Mom doesn't start lecturing me on why i need sleep. GTmike400 08-30-2004, 09:02 PM Grrrr...rice it Joe. Go back to your past. ImolaEK 08-31-2004, 10:16 PM Grrrr...rice it Joe. Go back to your past. Not this one Mike :evillol:  Well here is some more progress. The car is ALMOST done! the engine still needs a little bit more of touch ups but most of it is done. I still need to assemble the suspension and am still waiting for my rims to arrive :iceslolan http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/73957DSC08141.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/73957DSC08142.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/73957DSC08143.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/73957DSC08144.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/73957DSC08145.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/73957DSC08146.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/73957DSC08148.JPG JDM-AE86 08-31-2004, 10:23 PM Wow, it looks great. If you have any CF left, u should cover the deck lid with it instead of flat black, all in all, it looks like it'll b a great build when its done ImolaEK 08-31-2004, 10:29 PM Wow, it looks great. If you have any CF left, u should cover the deck lid with it instead of flat black, all in all, it looks like it'll b a great build when its done Hmm, whats a deck lid. :screwy: I just noticed i placed the Strut Bar opside down. Thats what happens when your working on a model at 2:20 AM falling asleep. :loser: pre98zetec 08-31-2004, 10:38 PM Look's awesome so far, I would have painted the side trim black though, but that's just me. ImolaEK 08-31-2004, 10:41 PM Look's awesome so far, I would have painted the side trim black though, but that's just me. Yea i was thinking of doing that, since my Liscence plate area is black. I might do that and leave the side skirts the same color as the car so i could match it with the Rear lip. Thanks for the input! ImolaEK 09-01-2004, 09:15 PM Ok engine is done. This was my first time doing some wires on the engine. I stole them from my ML55 AMG Die-Cast model  . Atleast it worked for something. :p Unfortunaly when i was opening the glue a big dab of glue fell ontop of the spark plugs so it all looks like its in one piece. I also put together the bumpers and other minor stuff. I still have to complete the Suspension and do the Exhaust. These rims that are on the car will not be the final ones. I am waiting for my Spoons to come in the mail. :p Enjoy! http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/73957DSC08152.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/73957DSC08153.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/73957DSC08154.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/73957DSC08155.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/73957DSC08156.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/73957DSC08157.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/73957DSC08160.JPG GTmike400 09-01-2004, 09:24 PM Everything looks great...except I dont think the wheels fit the style of the car. Engine looks great, and so does the exterior. Now build a model with a damn bodykit... Thanks Mike, Yea these wheels are wayy ugly and too big! Im not using them though, I will be using some Spoon SW-388's. About the car with a body kit...Hmmm that might take a while for me to build. pre98zetec 09-01-2004, 10:03 PM Look's alot better now that you painted the side strip. MidMazar 09-01-2004, 10:38 PM awesome detail on the engine bro, also good thing you went with the stock tails, cause the altezzas look ugly, and also wheres the exuast? dread_darven 09-02-2004, 02:17 PM Thats one lovelly detailed civic. perfect job. SchuberT 09-02-2004, 04:04 PM ... and also wheres the exuast? I'd laugh if it was dumped off before the rear axle... such a great idea, so unique... i dunno, mebbe he hasnt attached the exhaust yet. ImolaEK 09-02-2004, 06:54 PM I'd laugh if it was dumped off before the rear axle... such a great idea, so unique... i dunno, mebbe he hasnt attached the exhaust yet. Thats actually a very cool idea. But for this one i will have a normal N1 style exhaust. Maybe for the next series of Honda's i will be building i will have one that is cut off, or exits right out the front bumper. :p ol' dude 09-02-2004, 06:57 PM Great looking build, can't wait to see it completed!!! JDM-AE86 09-02-2004, 09:24 PM Hmm, whats a deck lid. :screwy: I just noticed i placed the Strut Bar opside down. Thats what happens when your working on a model at 2:20 AM falling asleep. :loser: U see the thing thats the cover of the "trunk" in the rear window? I think u have it painted flat black, its the cover of the whole hatch when u look through it from the back windsheild, but it looks good with the exception of the hideous chrome rims, sum noce Spoon SW's would b perfect ImolaEK 09-03-2004, 04:23 PM U see the thing thats the cover of the "trunk" in the rear window? I think u have it painted flat black, its the cover of the whole hatch when u look through it from the back windsheild, but it looks good with the exception of the hideous chrome rims, sum noce Spoon SW's would b perfect Yes i will be using the Spoon SW388's I believe i have that top deck lid with carbon fiber. i mentioned it in the first post. I need some close up pics. Thanks for the replies. ImolaEK 09-03-2004, 05:44 PM Well i am completely done with the exterior/engine/interior 100%. Now i will have to wait until i receive the rims that i bought so i could build the suspension. And do the exhaust. Thanks for looking everyone. GTmike400 09-03-2004, 06:40 PM In the mean time build a body kit.... tonioseven 09-03-2004, 06:40 PM It's great!! That color goes excellent with the red interior parts and the CF decals!! The Spoon wheels will set it off just right!!!:sunglasse WeaPoN [X] 09-03-2004, 07:46 PM Cant wait to see the Spoons on! looks hot so far! JeFF Mean_B16 09-04-2004, 12:44 AM looks very clean, I like w/o a body kit. with some different wheels I think It will look even better. ImolaEK 09-04-2004, 10:58 PM Thanks for the compliments everyone. I received the Spoon SW388's in the mail today. I found the tires a bit thick so i tried fitting them with the tires that come with the model. Yea thats right the really thin ones. I cut them and then taped them on to see how they looked. But i think i will go with the thick tires due to me being lazy and since a bigger problem came up. These wheels have a really long hole for when you place the rims they stick out a bit, leaving the brakes reallly far behind. I would like to know how to fix that. I was thinking of shortining the hole so that the rim would fit in closer to the brakes and would actually be under the fenders. Or make the suspension a bit more narrow to fit the rims in under the fender. Meaning doing surgery on the whole suspension. I need help. Anyone that has used Spoon rims no a Revell please help me! Thanks! MidMazar 09-05-2004, 01:05 AM i had the same prob, i just say experiment with the wheels and the suspension. You can also try running an axel (rod)through the suspension setup, but that will make your under body look unrealistic. ImolaEK 09-05-2004, 01:06 AM Ok problem solved. I made the brakes wrap around the rim's center, looks wayy better, you get a glimpse of the Light Blue Spoon Brakes  sneiser 09-05-2004, 11:33 AM Man it looks great !!!! i love every one of your models they are all what i would do ..... JDM is the way to go .. as for body kits .. thats a big negative .... all your models look great !! keep up the good work .. also your next hatch should look like my Avatar? lol the Spoon Civic type-R !! Other wise everything is mint! GREAT JOB!!! ImolaEK 09-05-2004, 11:23 PM Man it looks great !!!! i love every one of your models they are all what i would do ..... JDM is the way to go .. as for body kits .. thats a big negative .... all your models look great !! keep up the good work .. also your next hatch should look like my Avatar? lol the Spoon Civic type-R !! Other wise everything is mint! GREAT JOB!!! Thanks sneiser, Yea i really like the Spoon Civic Type R, i might get the fujimi kit someday, though im still thinking abuot it because it looks like the quality isn't all that great and the headlights look like a 96-98 but then it has the 99-00 front bumper, weird. I think the Revell Civic hatch is better to build a Spoon CTR with the Fujimi parts. But im not sure i will build a Spoon Civic, this hatchback is like my interpretation of what i would like my real life car to look like and im a really big fan of Spoon Sports. My next Civic will be a Mugen Style Civic, without the side Mugen decals though, since i cant find them. Well here is the newest progress yet. I painted the Spoon rims flat black and painted the lug nuts light blue (Spoon color :p ), Along with the calipers of the brakes, its got a 5 lug nut conversion. I opened up the inside of the brakes so that they will scroll into the rims, so they seem closer to the wheels like in real life. I took off the tires that came with the Spoon rims and used the tires that came with the Revell Civic, just had to do some minor adjustments since the revell rims are a bit bigger. I still have to fix the left front side tire since it sticks out a bit. The Muffler is done but needs some paint. I will hopefully be done by tomorrow around 4pm since i plan on taking a good sleep :p Here i have a picture of the new rims i put on my Blue Civic along with the Spoon rims with the stock tires. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/73957DSC08174.JPG Here is how it looked with the Spoon rims with the stock tires http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/73957DSC08176.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/73957DSC08178.JPG Now this is how it looks with the Revell tires on http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/73957DSC08186.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/73957DSC08188.JPG And here is the muffler still in the need of paint. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/73957DSC08184.JPG Enjoy! SchuberT 09-06-2004, 02:00 AM To be honest, I think the spoons look better with the supplied tires. Great build, though, keep it up. IImportSupra 09-06-2004, 10:25 AM Nice Joe, Good to see you round. the Spoons look great. ol' dude 09-06-2004, 10:43 AM Those wheels do look alot better than the kit supplied ones!! Great looking build!!!!!!!! sneiser 09-06-2004, 11:34 AM i dont mind either tires but i think that the revell tires make the whole car look lower and meaner ( if thats a word ) lol .... but ya over all I LOVE YOUR MODELS .... im in the middle of doing a TRD celica right now i .... i got a type r civic almost done ... and ya .. but im not nearly as good as you! ImolaEK 09-07-2004, 08:39 PM Thanks guys, haven't had the time to finish the muffler in other words the last part of the car. I personally think that the supplied tires made the car height look tooo high, as if this was a rally Civic. The revell tires dont look too thin on these rims since the rims are a bit small. I'll get better pictures for you guys sometime, where you guys could see how good the tires and rims balance out. thizishkenny 09-07-2004, 10:19 PM The build is going along nicely. Is the wheels sticking out? willimo 09-07-2004, 10:32 PM I think so. I find the tires to look weird in this application, which is odd since they looked good on freelunch's Civic where he used Tamiya rims and Revell tires. I think maybe if you pull the tires a little more toward the outside of the rim, it'll look far better. It looks now as if there's a scale inch between the lip on the rim and bead of the tire. sneiser 09-08-2004, 05:57 PM Model looks great!!! cant wait to see finish ....also can you show me all your jdm models .. also that integra in thizishkenny's sig looks sick .... progress pics on that? vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
