Hi everyone,
Heres what performance upgrades i've tried with my 99 2Dr tahoe 5.7, hope this helps anyone thinking about more power.
1st mod was the hypertech power programmer 3 & 160 degree thermostat. Great results with this. Truck shifted at a slightly higher RPM and much firmmer. You could feel a little more power. Also runs much cooler in stop & go Chicago traffic.
2nd Mod- K & N air filter. Easy install, slight increase in power.
3rd Mod- Cat back Dual exhaust- I went with Flowmaster 80 Series Mufflers & dual Stainless 24" tips comming out the back on either side of the trailer hitch. IGGYS custom mufflers in chicago did a AWSOME job on this one.Looks like it came from the factory this way. Ask me & I can Email a picture or two if you want to see what it looks like.
This by far was the best mod so far, combined with the Hypertech & the K & N this really made a difference you could feel. Now instead of
" Are we gonna die entering this expressway??" the truck pulls very strong right off the line right to express way speeds. i'm guessing here, but i bet the combo of these mods took a full second of my 0-60 time.
So, anyone out there try anything else? headers? Gears? Lets hear whats worked for you so far .
THANKS !!!
