I had my 92 Camry for over a year and from cars.com it said my XLE V6 came with auto headlights off. Well mine never went off till today when i shut the engine off, the lights went off to my surprise. So when I went back home to see if it will go off again, it didnt when I shut the engine off. Does anyone have an auto headlights off problem? Maybe it is the wiring?

If I remember correctly, my 92 Camry headlights timed out and turned off automatically a couple of minutes after I got out of the car.

Ok I noticed sometimes when I open the driver side door it doesnt register that I opened it on the dashboard. So when I shut the car off and open the door the lights don't always go out since the door opening doesnt always register with the computer. Anyone know how to fix it? Maybe a wire is lose a bit which makes connections sometimes but not all the time or maybe it could be a relay?

Thrasher086,

It could be as simple as the button that registers when the door is open or closed is sticking closed at times. If it's the same as my 94 it's in the frame of the car where the door closes just below where the the striker is, but it's on the frame. Pull back the rubber cover from the bottom and you will see 1 10mm hex head bolt. Remove the bolt and pull the button out just slightly. Now just clean the button up with some WD-40 from the backside and work it a bit. If it is sticking, this should fix it. You can also observe if the wires there are connected or corroded. If it's working sometimes, it should be connected. The WD-40 will also clean the corrosion, if there is any.
