ECT button and brake fluid

i have a 2000 Tacoma PreRunner, 2wd... 2.4 liter 4 cylender. i want to check my brake fluid, but i dont know whee it is located... can anyone help?
Als there is a button on the left of my steering column that says "ect" i dont have a manual because i bought it used, what does that button do?

I have the same truck, if I'm right, doesn't that button lock differential?

The brake fluid reservoir is on top the master cylinder on the drivers side of the engine attached to the firewall near the top.
Usually you can see through the reservoir and check the fluid without opening it.
The ECT button controls the shift points of the automatic transmission. One setting is for economy (shifts at low rpm) and one setting is for better performance (shifts at higher rpm).

The ECT button is great for when your on a hill or want to pass someone with a little extra power added. I rarely use mine, I just turn off the OD normally. But the two combined make it have pretty incredible pick up.
