Tire pressure

I had my '99 Jeep GC Laredo tires rotated and balanced. After I left the shop, the Jeep drove like a tank. I checked the tire pressure and why the heck a mechanic inflated all the tires to 45 PSI? That is a little bit above max PSI.

mechanic? or jiffy lube grease monkey? either way it's probably just a mistake, there are light truck tires that run 40-50 psi. in fact a set of goodyears i had a while ago ran 44psi max. just set it to the pressure recommended on the sidewall of the tire.

Check the tag on the door jam for recommended tire pressures. Just because a tire has a max pressure of 44 psi doesn't mean that your car should run like that. Alot of it depends on vehicle weight. I used to run BFG ATs on both my Jeep and my full size Bronco. I could run the Bronco's tires at a higher pressure than the Jeep due to it weighing 1000 lbs more. Even still when aired up to 45 the thing rode really stiff. I used to run them about 36 on the Bronco and 32 on the Jeep.
