99 Windstar Speed warning chimeDrBill34 08-23-2004, 03:48 PM Hello All I have a 1999 Windstar. I want to disable the speed warning chime, it goes on and stays on at speeds of 75mph or greater, does anybody know how to do this? KPVSR 08-23-2004, 05:27 PM Is there anything in your users manual about it? I'll have to take a look at mine. This must either be an option or if my '99 Windstar has it set real high. Been right around 95 mph with it and never any warning sound. DrBill34 08-23-2004, 06:38 PM Is there anything in your users manual about it? I'll have to take a look at mine. Not a thing mentioned in the owners manual, it's as if it does not exist, but i have seen other posts on other windstar columns that mention the same problem, 75mph and the chimes start. kriskirk 02-09-2005, 04:14 AM I have the same problem. I recently had to get my instrument cluster replaced on my 2001 SEL due to the tach messing up. When I got it back, I noticed anytime I go 78mph or higher it starts dinging. Once I go down to 77 it stops. Anyone clear this chiming? bshetler 02-11-2005, 07:30 AM When I bought my used 99 it also had a speed chime come on at 75mph. The dealer was able to turn it off. I was not able to find any information on how to turn it off myself. kriskirk 02-11-2005, 05:33 PM When I bought my used 99 it also had a speed chime come on at 75mph. I went to my dealer yesterday, they said they'd have to get back to me as they didn't have a remedy. Thanks wiswind 02-12-2005, 12:26 AM Try posting on flatratetech.com under the forums....FORD. That forum is visited by LOTS of FORD technicians. I am not suggesting that you not use this forum...as I have gotten lots and lots of great information here......but I have found a few items of very useful information there also. I am confident that there is no functioning speed warning chime on my '96 windstar. Vchat20 02-12-2005, 09:05 PM same here. weve easily hit 80+ on highways and its never given us a problem. only speed related chime we have now seems to be related to the dreaded door ajar issue in which <10mph the chimes go on and >15mph the chimes go off. bshetler 02-14-2005, 09:11 AM You wouldn't happen to have the dealers name and location, would you. Thanks The dealer is Montrose Ford near Akron, Ohio. oncehadamustang 02-14-2005, 11:44 PM I drove 100 today and No chime. Now I feel left out!
