Engine check light and gas tank level?

I bought a 1995 Toyota Camry LE. My engine check light came on. The strange thing is-it seems to have a direct co-relation to how much gas there is in the tank. When the gas tank is full-it comes on. Once the gas tank hits right above half way-it goes off. I am sure some one has experienced a similar problem. The dealer says to replace the EGR modulator and the VSV. Does the EGR modulator and VSV have anything to do with how much gas there is in the tank?

If the EGR modulator is bad your check engine light will not goes off, it always on until you fix the problems. Your gas cap probably not good, i would check the gas cap first cause it is the cheapest so far.

it could also be a pressure sensor. But start with the gas cap.
